I use parts of Dig Deeper (Mostly the metals and such).  I fairly consistently find huge clusters (not veins) of HFS-free Adamantine.  Often 3-7 clusters at times.

Before autumn hit, I got 15 orcs vs 6 unarmed dwarves + 1 armed. It was a brutal slaughter, the lands of adamantine glory was not meant to be! R.I.P adamantine dorfs.

Edit: 1 dwarf had just been given a finely-crafted adamantine mace, but that ofcourse wouldn't make much of a difference. :)

Sieges and strength are calculated on fortress value. Adamantine is beyond valuable, moving into the obscene. Shoulda walled yourself in.

With Adamantine, therefore compounding the problem.

Dwarf Fortress is Minesweeper with attitude.  In both games you are uncovering squares and just waiting for it to blow up in your face.  At least in DF you have tiny bearded and smiling avatars to torture on your descent to fun.

Very simple: Normally adamantine is HFS only, HFS is scripted to have it. However, the mod in question added [LARGE_CLUSTER] (if forget the exact name) to adamantine making it everywhere.

Examples of other large cluster stones:

Microcline
Magnetite

You might remember those. Now adamantine is just as common! Congratulations!

Ah, you're right.

[ENVIRONMENT:SEDIMENTARY:VEIN:100]

This seems pretty decipherable. The location, type it occurs in (vein, large and small clusters), and presumably commonality. Nothing in stone_mineral has a number other than 100. Some gems, however, have a 10 there, which I presume makes them rare. Maybe make adamantine a small cluster, probability 10? That seems more fair.

Or if you don't care about fairness, you could make it a layer stone. :)

I've just been making everything out of adamantine because of this.
Buckets, cages, chains, biscuits, thrones, blocks, etc.

It's kinda cool, and looks like it's HFS free; I'm going to make apartments in them next.

That can't be good for your teeth.

Unless you make dentures out of adamantine, too.  Beats a gold tooth by a mile.

I'm talking about the bronze colossus. It's supposed to be made entirely of bronze.
But really he's just a softie inside. They all are really. When megabeasts come to your fort you never welcome them inside and give them a hug, do you. You heartless bastards...

Nomnomnom

When I grow old and toothless I will ask my dentist for microcline dentures, and (because DF will be the national sport of the New World Government) he will tell me to fuck my microcline (dentures)... :D

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.
