Well, that's exactly how i do. But he's still there.
I'm going to recheck to sure, but I just got a migration wave which will delay checking population numbers accurately vs. my .txt-file vs. DT. DT should list the total number of dwarves. :P    (it doesn't do this... right?)

It does not. File that feature request! I do not use this thread as a todo-list it's way too crowded for that.

I don't get an activation code, so i can't do that. Maybe someone else can request it. :P

And, indeed. DF shows 30 children, DT 31.

Doesn't look like anyone else has, so I'll add it for you right now.

Without having read the thread: It would be useful to see the current job my dwarves are doing, so I can reallocate all those lazy idlers.

The sad part is that we need a memory injector in the first place :/

Yea there is already an open feature request for that.

In other news: The 0.4.0 build is nearing completion. Here's a juicy screenshot of the new custom view editor...

I saw this once, the child in question was snatched.  Since the child wasnt dead, DT keep it on the roles.

Any word on the next Linux build? Been looking forward to crashing my computer some more seeing if I can get it running stable for a while now. :)

Creating new grid views is MUCH faster - nice work!

Is 4.0 not back-compatible to import grid views from prev versions? Don't seem to be reading any when I try. (Wouldn't surprise me, big differences possible, just double checking.)

My plan for today is to install Ubuntu 9.04 as dual-boot on my main dev machine. Developing in a VM isn't helping me find your crash. The good news is that it's been working quite well for me in Ubuntu 8.04 lately.

Yeah sorry, I had to break compatibility with the old sets/views :( But they are much nicer to ship around now! Just a single file, and people can pick and choose which ones to import or export.

Hmm, it seems DT doesn't remove snatched children from its list. Little Tun has been snatched, apparently (I'm not sure if he was snatched, but I can't find his grave and the other dead children don't appear in DT).
First a screenshot from DF:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
As you see, there are only 5 dwarves.
Next, a screenshot from DT:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
6 dwarves? Also, an ecstatic dwarf in my fortress? That can't be! I had quite a few snatchers who came during the tantrum spiral, so it's pretty likely that one of them snatched little Tun.
But this screenshot proves that the goblins' childcare system isn't that bad. I mean: He's ecstatic!

I'm using 0.28.181.40d16 and 0.4.0. Here's my save, uploaded for your convenience.

Hey thanks! You're the first to attach a fort displaying this problem. I will get on it!
