[spoiler="ancient original post"]
Greetings. I have been working the past few weeks on a replacement for DwarfManager. Not that DM isn't awesome, but I really wanted to try adding some new features myself. And I figured C++ would be a better platform for eventually getting this working on OSX and Linux. So I went with C++ and Qt for the platform. The source is open, and I hope some enterprising Linux/OSX hacker can help me with getting those versions working in the future.
For now though, I'd really just like to get some eyeballs on this and hammer it into submission. I'm am *positive* there are some bugs left in this. But I've been using it personally with 40d11 for about a week now on some forts with around 170 dwarves, and it's been great.
You can download the Alpha release candidate from the project page linked above. It only runs on windows right now, and should run against 40d, 40d8, 40d11, and 40d13. It's been tested on XP, Vista, and Win 7.
Here's a quick video a friend put together showing its custom profession handling.
http://screencast.com/t/LXN4aY1F5VJFeatures so far- Persistent custom professions - import and manage any number of custom professions across all your forts.
- Assign multiple dwarves to a custom profession at once to unify active labors
- Manage labors and professions much more easily than in-game using a flexible UI, allowing quick review of all dwarves at-a-glance
- Display all pending changes before they're written to the game
- Sort labor columns by associated skill level
- Persistent and customizable display; change colors, reposition/hide information screens
- Group your dwarves by several criteria
Please give it a go, and feel free to post feature requests or any bugs you find on the issue tracker. Have fun!
