On the upside, if the tool was made to auto-find the memory offsets each time, we would never have to wait for updates with a new version.

DF 0.31.13 for Linux memory layout - confirmed working by at least 1 other person so far.

Credits due to DT scanning tool and the DFHack folks!

I'll feel much happier if/when people confirm that layout as working, mind you! :) - I don't quite believe that it is yet, but that's probably just paranoia.

So are Vista/Win7 users completely screwed, or is there still hope?

I only have a passing vague understanding of what's going on there. At the very least it sounds like DT and other memory hacking tools will need to have some internal changes made to cope with this. It's not just a case of using a new memory_layout .ini file or Memory.xml.

From what I gather, you *might* be able to use simply .ini / Memory.xml changes, but you'd have to re-acquire the locations in memory for certain things each time that DF is started. (I could be misunderstanding what I've heard, however). It'd probably be less tedious to manage without DT in the short term, or stay on 0.31.12.

Yeah, I'll be staying with .12 until this mess gets straightened out.

Although Forsaken's point is kind of interesting. What if somebody made a tool to automatically locate the needed items upon startup? It would remove the need to do this each time the locations are switched, too.

Now, I can't program my way out of a wet paper bag, so I don't know how viable this is. Anybody with more than two weeks of coding experience able to enlighten me?

Ok i'm really stupid. Made 1 less search than required. Hecaterus on IRC is currently having a working DT version on his PC with the working memory locations. Already confirmed these by manual lookup. So we just have to wait for him to post it.

...are we going to have to repeat this for 31.14, which is the standard even-numbered bugfix release that comes soon after the odd-numbered feature release?
