Just so everyone knows, Dwarves do not like to be dead.  At least according to Dwarf Therapist.  I've got one Dwarf who has 0 happiness.  They died after not supplying gems for an artifact and going insane.  Since then, even after a long while and multiple saves and quits, this dwarf still shows up on Therapist.

the 6 step method worked after shutting down dwarf fortress and restarting.

Thanks you.

Also, I thought it was kind of amusing that dead dwarves were usually pretty unhappy too.

Will there be a new release for the new versions?  I hadn't even updated to 03101 (or whatever the one before this one is) so I don't even have it configured for that, and don't really want to crawl through the last 55 pages to find how to get it to work with 0.31.01 from whatever the last working version was before that.

The title and first post really should be edited.

No, they shouldn't, because the current version the DT that people are using isn't a "release" version.  chmod put out a barebones version for the people who were in this thread.  He  didn't make it an official release because he already knows there's tons of bugs/features not working, and didn't want to be inundated with bug reports.

What the thread title says is essentially "nothing to report".  What's in this thread is not "nothing to report". I only came in here on the off chance that I'd find out what the deal was. It was a pleasant surprise to find even a bare bones release.

When I see the thread title reads 10/26/09, I make some very logical, rational, and reasonable assumptions.

Whatever...

*rolls eyes*

Have it your way: -1 thread usefulness. It's no-longer my problem, I got the information I needed the hard way.

I have to agree with KFK here, it would make sense to add a 'beta available in thread' type comment in the title. Obviously it has to be clear it's beta and not to raise bugs about it.

But really it is a call for chmod anyway :)

Right. Like I don't want to be a dick about it, I was trying to make a friendly suggestion. I just don't see (even after it's been explained to me) the problem with, "DF2010 update. Caution: very limited functionality".

Very true, there are several large unmissable written warnings that one runs into when using the program anyway.

Regardless, Chmod has said he is aiming for a proper release over this weekend.

Seconded right there. That would really be a good idea. Not everyone who plays DF and uses and loves DT is on here every day. They just see "Ah, still no new version." and that's that. The title should really be edited the way Shades says.
