Hi, running Ubuntu 9.04, kernel is 2.6.28, glibc is 2.9, running 40d16.  Have had problems with DFHack and Dwarf Therapist freezing my box in the past.

Just ran ./dt_trace, I'm no code junkie, but it looks like an endless loop.  I don't really want to find out if it isn't.  I suspect it'd freeze my box, again.

Just wanted to register my praise for this masterfully crafted program. A much needed addition for the enjoyment of Dwarf Fortress.

Thank you chmod.

First: don't use any DF tools without the DFHack SHM on kernels older than 2.6.31. It will simply crash and burn. I suspect it was some signal handling issue in the kernel, I tried to fix it, but the problem was nowhere near my code and eventually went away with X and kernel updates.

The 'normal' memory access is pretty bad on Linux no matter how you look at it. All writes have to be done in 4B chunks for example - and the performance of writes is about a tenth of what it should be.

So, get belal's 0.1.1 DT release and try it with the libdfconnect (SHM) library installed into DF. You should get a 'dfhack: hooking successful' message in the terminal when you run DF and it's properly installed.

I'm using the Mayday version of 40d16 (econ stone mod, cat mod, mayday tileset only I think), and Therapist has been unable to find the "PEB Process" of DF, but can definitely tell when it is not running.

Any help?

Regarding the question above, I'm...  not sure, honestly.  Sorry.

Anyway.  Since the first release of DF2010 should be in the very near future (yet oh so far away)...  will Dwarf Therapist be updated fairly quickly for it?  Or has the creator of Dwarf Therapist perhaps lost interest in DF or become too busy to deal with DT?

The last update I saw from chmod mentioned that he had lost his job, and so would be focusing on finding work instead of writing free code.  This was months ago.  I don't know if he's had any luck.

My fork of DT which uses DFHack will be updated very quickly after DF2010, as soon as we can get DFHack updated for the release.  The main fork will not be updated unless chmod comes back to do it himself, which he may do at some point, I don't know.

My fork is available at check http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=15875 , so check that for updates.

Aaaaaaannnnnnnd I'm back.

Sorry for the long absence. I never intended be gone for so long. Explanation coming soon. Thanks to Belal for the work he's done on my baby while I had to get my life in order.

Expect a new release soon, and for me to get this thing moving again.

;_;

I've been spoiled so badly by Dwarf Therapist... playing the new release without it is killing me.

I know you don't know me, or any of the zillions of people who use your program and are in no way in debt to anyone regarding this project, but please hear my desperate plea! :

Get DT up for our new release!!   ;___________;

chmod returns. Hide the unspoiled women and prepare his royal codpiece of smiting. His demands will be many but the quarry of his blessing unmatched.

Prepare the codpiece!!

Desperate for a new version, glad to see you arrived just in time.

You'd get super bonus points if you created a tab for all the military screen insanity that condensed it into something simpler.

Chmod, I dont know you personally, but I seriously love you. Your work is essential to playing DF, it was what actually allowed me, the lazy bum that I am, to truly get into the game :D. You are great for doing what youre doing. I mean seriously awesome.
