This layout is insisting my instance of DF is closed. It seems to be detecting it alright, but it thinks the dwarves are all outsiders, and therefore invalid. Here are the pertinent lines in the log:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This is on Windows XP x64, 35.06 SDL, only change from pure vanilla (including tilesets, but not including game options) is a raws change to make hooves into shells.

So where do I put that download in my DT folder?

Update on my troubles: I had a runaway ] at the end of my file. I removed it, and it works.

Does this work with .06?

Edit: The reason I ask is because when I try and connect, it say it can't talk to the version i'm using. That makes me believe that i'm going to have to wait for an update.

It helps to read the thread Fuzzy. The instructions for making it work are posted on the last page.

Is there a way to search for Dwarfs with good fighting abilities?
Right now I check one dwarf after another which is kind of ineffective imo..

Make a Military Grid View (really this should be included by default IMHO).

omg thank you so much!!11
EDIT:
Nooooooo link is doownnn DDDDD:
why isnt it included by default anyway?

Edit: bah stupid google code site!
Edit2: Here.

http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=2475
Huzzah!

Where do I put that military grid view file?  It sounds useful. Errrmm, hold on.... following some links.  That wasn't helpful.  Thinking,,, tinkering,,, muttering,,,  Okey dokey, figured it out.... nevermind.

You do not have to put it anywhere specific. Just use the load layout option under the file menu and then find the file and load it in. Once loaded in DT will remember the layout until the next upgrade where you will need to add the layout again.

Thanks, I just figured it out.  Appreciate the reply though.

I did read, but I didn't understand that was what it was.

Edit: Okay, so I have to basically manually insert...shouldn't be too hard.

Edit Edit: I was right, not hard at all. Thanks. :)

DT is pretty sweet, but it could really use a built in auto updater for these ini changes, something apart from the main program updates...

I think that's on just about every mod user's wish list. Probably on a few mod maker's too. The scope of changes Toady makes though makes it hard to code something that predict his next insanity.

I'm guessing this means the ability to download the updated ini's from a central server.  That would be neat, although the first updates often seem to come from the users rather than from chmod...
