Lets Play Victoria: An Empire Under The Sun
« on: July 19, 2009, 06:03:38 pm »

Intro Screen!

Victoria: An Empire Under the Sun, also known as Victoria, is a real-time strategy game by Paradox Entertainment (now known as Paradox Interactive). It covers its namesake the Victorian period, specifically 1836-1920.

I'm going to be playing the grand campaign, which starts at 1836 and ends in 1920.

First, YOU must pick a country for me to play as. Don't pick a Great Power, unless you have a witty idea for a semi-novice player(thats me).
List of countries-some may not be available in 1836

No revolutions?  Oh well.

hrmm, I forget - do small German states have events to unify Germany?  If so I'd say give it a shot as one.

There is an immense temptation to suggest making Switzerland take over the world.

I think where Germany should be is carved up between Prussia Austria-Hungary. I'll have to check the map. Germany is there, with a bit more land in the north east compared to modern day Germany.

hehe, that might be fun

If you're talking about the 1836 scenario, there are a shitload of small German states between the two disjoint pieces of Prussia.  Historically, I think there were like 200+  Some are playable, but obviously not fun if you only have one (very small) province.

Having never played Victoria (One day I will, really!) I'll have to agree with Switzerland.

I guess we have consensus then.  If you actually want to survive as a belligerent Switzerland, you're going to need an army and resources.

Oh, and completely ripped off from what I linked earlier:

Now, for the master plan:

1. conquer the UK.

2. When the civil war starts, play both sides against each other, making it so both sides are ruined at the end.

3. Destroy both.

4. Proceed to wipe Canada off the map.

5. Destroy Mexico, and then take south America.

6. ???

7. Conquer the rest of the world!
