do you have to release gcs into the wild to harvest silk?
Just because you asked the only time tame GCS will generate havestable silk is when they web something so put em near the entrace behind a door and let a few goblins get to them you won't worry about goblins and you'll have lot's of silk.

They brought me a black bear and jaguar in the first couple of years, but nothing cool since in a 19 year fort.  And I might add, I never kill the elves as I have a no-magma fort and their wood is actually valuable for my industries.

The Elves brought me a breeding pair of Jaguars which I promotly modded to be trainable.

The Humans brought me two male Donkeys the same year.

You probably can guess which merchants went home with masterwork silk and which ended up in my boneyard.

So, you killed the elves right? Just because they bring you good things, doesn't stop them being elves.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

My current mayor is an ex-herbalist whose object of worship is a male dwarf associated with trees, just to give you a better idea of my view of elves  ;)

If you'd seen this world's legends whereby elves dominate practically every fight perhaps you'd start praying to the same oak tree as them.

Wait... your mayor is an elf wannabe, and you're scared of getting into a fight with them?  send me your save. I need to watch your dwarves die.

Every. Single. One.

Scared? I'll admit that made me laugh.

Perhaps my view is biased as a follower of the druidic faith who lives near woodlands, but I quite like elves.

There I said it.

The fact that my mayor and half the peasants follow my beliefs only justify my use of mind control serum doses in the rum and ale.

You're actually a druid in real life?

A pagan in the woodlands? Fair enough. I dislike celtic paganism because my mum is pagan and so is one of my ex-ladies. I've had my mind filled so full of thrice-returning hippy jargon that it makes me want to go and write a story about a tree. :D

Liking elves, however, is inexcusable.

On the other hand, mind control serum is cool...

Too many variables! I need to go and perform the calculations on your punishment.  Wait here, I'll be back shortly :D

Meh, there's 3 main types of Pagan in my experience.

The naive idiot hippy types.
The wannabe warlocks (it's fun to mess with these guys)
The easy going, openminded nature worshippers.

I hope I fall into the last category.

Egad! They're multiplying! I'm gonna go grab my axe and flamethrower. No trees, no hippies :D

My mum falls into number 3, my ex falls into number 2.

I don't kill elves in hope they will give me something cool next year. I love modding bears to be trainable(note: I'm also on the orc mod so don't blame me)

You're actually a druid in real life?
Hehe, yes in the sense that I follow the druidic faith. I know people raving about their religions on the internet/forums is endlessly annoying so I'll keep it short.

Meh, there's 3 main types of Pagan in my experience.

The naive idiot hippy types.
The wannabe warlocks (it's fun to mess with these guys)
The easy going, openminded nature worshippers.

I'll vouch for the third type  ;) no magic or 'hippy' ideology just a spiritual resonance with nature and such.

Right, back on topic;  ;)

@Megaman - If you've got breeding bears I'd recommend tweaking raws to increase litter size and filling a large pit with their offspring. The spectical of twenty war bears ravaging on goblins prisoners needs to be seen to be believed.

@Rowanas -  Since I realise you're not a fan of elves but in fact a fan of fire so I thought I'd find an engraving you could enjoy  ;)

mwhaha. nice. I actually rant about religion on religious-debate (a forum created for the purpose).

The clash of druidism and recommendations about training war bears entertained me :D

I think I might try some of these mods people are always going on about. The MJ baby snatcher mod, dig deeper mod and primitive civ mod all look very nice. know where I can find them without trawling through a search?

Certainly; here is Dig Deeper.

Hehe, while training war bears may sound unethical remember that goblins contain many vitamins essential to the healthy growth and development of bears  :D
