I would like TVTropes so much more if there was an 'ignore obscure anime references' section.

There's a pretty big gripe to that in the headers to the "Nakama" and "Band of Brothers" pages.  Namely, that the exact same concept exists across cultures, but within TVTropes' frame of reference, it has to be called "Nakama" forever, because the page was first made by some otaku instead of an English scholar, and "Band of Brothers" is forever relegated to just the TV series and a redirection link.

The Nakama/Band of Brothers, at least, is justified with Band of Brothers being the name of a TV series. If you've got two possible names, better to use the one that isn't used by something else.

That said, some aren't quite so easily-justified. Like the way just about every personality trope in there is in Japanese.

By "Convection" in your post, I thought you meant actual convection, not the trope about it.
