And apparently my chest wound isn't healing at all. It looks like it got worse. hmm. Do I need critical healing rolls to fix it?

Also, the quarry doesn't have a roof? I never realized that!

Also, this is the lowest point of the game for me! It CAN'T get any worse!

Actions

Make a fire and create some soup out of the bloated tuber/demon rat meat, with roasted garlic to add some flavor. Yum! Eat and drink to my hearts content.

If I don't burst into flames, try to think up a rousing song or poem to lift my spirits!

And continue resting.

Heh, don't construe your recent series of unfortunate events on your comments in post. I do my best to remain as impartial as possible. You rolled a 1 for your night roll... Short of actually having an insectoid ambush fly down and eviscerate you, you had about the worst possible night I can imagine. Reminds me of camping with my old scout troop. Minus the wolves of course.

As for healing your ribs... No real non-magical way of healing them quickly. Time would do it eventually. As for your sanctity, if you use all the points at your good standing level you drop a standing level. Doing so has additional effects (like you've been getting a +1 on invocations due to standing so far) but it can be done.

(Observation check:4!-1(thirsty)) You stow your gear and get ready to leave. The human you freed feels obliged to follow you and you begin making your way again towards the trade hall. In the fog you nearly get turned around twice but eventually manage to make your way to the ramp again. You begin ascending and it's almost as if you're walking into a cloud. Visibility is very limited. Fortunately you were expecting  something when the road all of a sudden stops. In it's place is a triple strand rope bridge of apparent dwarven make. It's old and looks rickety but the ropes seem sturdy enough still.

You hear a vague booming off in the distance.

You are hungry, you are thirsty.

Dwareet'ik-

(Action:2!-1) You do your best to light a fire in the area to get yourself warm, but it seems that the wood you had prepared is too damp for you to light a fire with.

You're depressed again and decide to eat and drink your problems away. You consume some of the large demon rat meat and drink some water. You also decide to spend the rest of the time resting.

(Recovery roll:3!+1 (resting)): You feel a little better.

Keris-

You pull out some of your food and heartily dig in while you scrape together your meager possessions. You feel better having eaten some and soon are gathered with a decent number of others watching the work at the gate.

It seems two full squads are engaged in manning the massive battering ram that is being employed against the gate and with each resounding boom you can see them shudder slightly. The bar behind them appears to be wood though and continues to give with each successive hit now. You're enjoying the sight until the Siegemaster comes over, five mangy looking goblin wrestlers in tow. He informs you that this is your patrol group. You'll apparently be the first through the doors into the fortress. They'll follow your orders to a certain extent.

(Gained 5 goblin wrestler minions. Name them if you want. Otherwise they'll just be 1-5. Oh, and they're quite stupid looking.)

Reece-

(Observation check:6!,3!) Dragnar is informed of your patrol. You are already fully awake when the two of you head out. As you leave the gate enclosure you carefully note which stone Dragnar presses to disable the traps in case you pass this way again. In fact, as you look back to memorize the location you note a section of stone on each side of the tunnel that appears slightly different in coloration and you quickly realize that they're not a different color but they're drier than the surrounding stone. Perhaps you should investigate. But Dragnar is walking off and you decide to follow him instead.

(I'll leave it up to you to inform Dragnar of this find, otherwise he'll be oblivious.)

You're soon back at the ramp and climbing it you ascend. You think you briefly see movement in the quarry below as you rise but soon you're focused on staying on the path and not falling off. You come upon a bridge. (Described previously.) You note that the rope is large red-backed spider silk.

Deciding you had might as well press on you take the time to inform Dragnar about the peculiarities you observed at the wall. Then you step out onto the rope bridge. (Action:2!) You slip and nearly fall on the rope, it being wet from rainfall during the night. But you have the presence of mind to hold on tightly. The bridge sways and wobbles with your sudden motion but the ropes hold. You wait for a little bit before trying again. (Action:4!)

You manage to make it across easily enough. (Observation check:1!-1(thirst) You're too focused on not dying at the moment to take note of much, but crossing the bridge leads you into a very large chamber. (Further description provided below as part of Dragnar's turn)

You decide to continue to rest and hope the weather breaks. (Action:4!-1) You curl up into the most comfortable spot you can find. At least it's relatively dry and you try to rest some. You manage to fall asleep again, if only briefly. You're still slightly tired but when you awake after your nap again you feel a little better. (sleep deprivation penalty removed)

You are slightly tired (instead of tired). You are cold.

You stand around for some time merely watching the activity at the door. The goblins continue pounding on it for some time before the wooden bar behind the door gives way spilling the goblins into the entry tunnel. Some harsh orders are barked and the few that seemed eager to enter are whipped (literally) into submisison again. Three patrols form from the squad that came to meet you yesterday, of which you're in charge of one. You're in front of the other two and the gates are now open.

The five goblins form up behind you in a loose blob sort of shape.

Dragnar-

You eat some of your dog meat roast. It's very flavorful and you enjoy it. Mmm... just a hint of garlic. And plenty of salt. You take some swigs from your flask and then decide to quench your thirst properly. Unfortunately you've drunk most of your rum now. Darn flask is just too small to hold enough for a proper dwarf. You make a note to carry two or three next time before going to cross the bridge with Reece. (Action:3!) You too have some difficulty on the rope bridge but make it across.

As you press on a little you enter a large cavernous hall. There appears to be a pedestal off on one side, the floor having been carved away beneath it to protect it. Despite that it seems that some adventuresome soul has climbed it and looted the coffin. It stands open. There appears to be a ramp leading down and signs of recent use. Ashes from a small fire are near the ramp and evidence of some crude cooking and sleeping are visible. There are bloodstains on the floor. The stonework is clearly dwarven and the sight of it sends you back to the last time you were in a proper dwarven fortress. It's been nearly a decade.

(Recall Runes:6!,4!) You studied smithing for a long time as a lad. Children, as is proper, were given the freedom to pursue whatever course of action they felt like. You were always drawn to the forges. Once you came of age you began as an apprentice, learning the way to operate smelters and the like. Then you learned some actual forgework. The talk around the forges was almost always focused on metal and soon you'd heard of one of the masters of the trade that had learned a trick or two from some of the mastersmiths of Geshud Osod, when it had been actively trading. He was now ancient, even by dwarven standards and you decided to go and visit him. He accepted you as his apprentice and eventually he came to trust you enough to tell you about proper runework. You had only learned about the 'Strengthen metal' rune when he finally died of old age, but you knew that his master had lived here in this place and so here you came to learn more.
