Day 5, Turn 16: Order: Reece (4!,2!,3!), Dwareet'ik (4!,2!,1!), Dragnar (2!), Ajax (5!), The goblin (4!,6!); New order: Ajax, The goblin, Reece, Dwareet'ik, Dragnar
Ajax-
"Oh, perhaps it'd be better if I had a sturdier weapon to hunt the goblins with." you respond.
The dwarf merely shrugs. "As ye wish."
You're hasty to add, "But if I see any wandering around I'll do what I can. In fact, I'll guard the lower wall tonight just to be sure. Some crazy loon wroth the name 'Elbereth' on the floor near the door."
(Reaction:4!) The dwarf looks surprised at this and then frowns. Soon he begins escorting you out again to the tower, activating the bridge with the lever. You overhear him muttering under his breath. "Curse that Urvad. I told her ta kill the blasted elf when she got a chance. Now he's marking up all our entrances, no doubt for another invasion."
You have the lantern now and as he leaves you on the stair pillar he tops it off again for you, thanking you for the information.
"If ye wants ta trade again just come back ta here and shout. You'll get somebody's attention soon enough."
He leaves you, retracting the stone bridge behind him. You head down and make yourself comfortable in the room. It looks like a decent place to rest.
The goblin-
(Let's say three corpses per turn, max. Two if you're planning on moving and dragging an overlarge rodent. )
(Offer corpses:6!,4!) You seen enough of the rituals back home to know the words and actions, though it's strange to be the one performing them. The demonic words come to mind and you spit them out. They burn slightly on your tongue and as you thrust in your dagger into the corpse at the proper moment a flash blinds you momentarily. For a brief moment you almost panic as you see the corpse catch flame and begin to melt away beneath you, all excepting the heart of the dead human, now transfixed by your dagger. An acrid, pungent odor fills the room as you move on to the next human corpse, performing the same ritual. You're somewhat more prepared this time and you feel that your Mistress is pleased with your actions.
You put the two hearts in your bag for later and begin dragging the fetid rat corpse by it's tail down the stairs. The head of the rat thumps against the stones as you descend but it bothers you little. You're not quite sure where everyone went, but the others were headed towards the descending stairs opposite where you came in and soon you find you can hear them at the bottom of another large staircase. When you get there, however, there is a slightly warm glow emanating from the room but the doors are locked fast from the inside. You think you hear the dwarf shout out that you're on watch, outside the door. If anything comes, make noise and they'll come help.
(+2 Invocation exp.)
Recovery roll:2! You don't feel so good after all that exertion. And your arm hurts a little more.
Reece-
You rest after handing over your turtle to the kobold. You watch him intently as he goes about butchering it and cooking it.
Recovery roll:3!+1 (resting) Your bleeding finally slows down to a trickle.
Dwareet'ik-
(um... coals from the forge... it's a MAGMA forge.) You have no bandages, except your own personal one to use on Reece at the moment. Any unused cloth would be what the goblins were wearing, and that's all in the Trade hall.
Instead you decide it best to try your hand and taking care of the turtle he caught. It's far too large to fit in your pot as it is. (Butcher animal:5!) You take to it with a will, carving into the turtle and quickly have it cut up in pieces. The shell and bones have been removed and you even managed to catch most of the blood in your demon rat skull bowl. You decide to try and cook up the turtle into a soup and try to rig up the pot over the magma to heat. Reece gives you some of his water to fill it with. (Cook:1!) But as you're about to put the meat in the pot overbalances and the whole thing falls into the red hot magma. You're tempted to try and pull it out but the massive cloud of steam that emanates from it drives you back and by the time it clears the pot is already half sunk and glowing cherry red. You dejectedly give Reece the raw turtle meat.
(+2 Butcher exp.)
Recovery roll:1!+1(bandage) All that commotion hasn't been good for your leg and you open the wound further.
Dragnar-
You're tempted to finish the chainmail you were working on but realize that other things need attending to first. You head up quickly and retrieve the kobold's leather before beginning to barricade the door with the lead bins. (Action:5!) It doesn't take too long, the ones with charcoal stack up nicely and the empty ones you can fill with sand. In decent time the door is securely barricaded.
(Action:4!)Of course, barricading of the magma to the forges proves an altogether different problem. You try using a bin or two to block the magma but even the lead bins quickly melt. The sand proves no more effective at impeding movement in the magma. It seems very little in here is completely melt resistant. At least, when immersed in the earth's fiery blood.
Recovery roll:1! Pushing and pulling all the metal around has proven a strain on your arms, that still are not properly healing.
Ok, I'll be out of town this weekend+, but feel free to post what defensive actions you're taking. Include specifics. It may just help you survive the night.
Oh, and keep in mind, from now on, all PVP actions and any covert or secret actions should be handled in PM with me. Feel free to post whatever you want publicly when doing things like that. Just let me know you're true actions in PM.
