Day 5, Turn 13: Order: Reece (3!,3!), Ajax (1!), Dragnar (6!), Dwareet'ik (3!,2!), the goblin (2!); New order: Dragnar, Reece, Dwareet'ik, the goblin, Ajax
Dragnar-
(Action:4!)
(You technically weren't there when the goblin said that, but you notice that the goblin is muttering that a lot. It seems he's rather disspirited at the moment and you chalk it up to being wounded, and a prisoner in a dwarven fortress full of undead.)
You agree with the assessment of your situation and realize that it would probably be best for you to get back to work in the forges if you wish to survive. And noticing the kobold's crown you gladly accept the offer. It takes you a bit of work going over the numbers of the kobold. You've never made armor his size but it should be easy enough. The chainmail will take some time to do of course, but the helmet should be quick and you decide to start with that. You still have 7 bars of iron and 1 of steel. You'd need four bars of iron to finish out the armor for the kobold, based on your estimate. And (rather unrealistically) it should take you only a few hours of work. (More if you try casting runes on it too)
The forges are still warm of course which makes getting ready rather quicker than yesterday and soon you're working on an iron cap. (Armorsmith:5!) (Quality:91!) It turns out rather better than you could have hoped for and soon you have a nice +Iron cap (small)+ resting on the cooling bench.
+2 to Armorsmithing exp.
Recovery rolls:1! Your arm begins throbbing from the work. It seems like you've made your injury worse. It's still useable though.
Reece and the goblin-
(Observation check:Reece (6!,1!), the goblin (1!)) The goblin looks like he neither cares nor expects to live very long and stares dejectedly down at the floor, but almost as soon as Reece pokes his head out the door he can tell theres a small pack of undead milling about in the room somewhere to your east. The room is, of course, dark and he simply can't see very far. So he hauls the goblin back into the crafts hall. No reason in sacrificing him just yet. (Detection:5!) The undead seem to have noticed you and are beginning to make their way towards you.
Recovery roll Reece:4! Your arm continues to improve.
Recovery roll Goblin:6!,6! The goblin seems to be recovering remarkably well despite the thrashing he received from Dwareet'ik.
Dwareet'ik-
(Sneak:5!+1, 4!) (Detection:1!) (Observation check:1!) The kobold decided to take a peak into the northward facing room and discovers that it is a vast hall, easily sixty or seventy feet wide, though you are near the western end of it. The eastern end is lost in darkness and you can make out a pack of humanoid corpses that are making their way towards you some fifty feet off. On the west side of the room is a large sign engraven into the rock of an anvil with a hammer striking it. Inset are a pair of doors you can only barely make out. They appear to be cracked open very slightly. Opposite you of the hall is an inset as well, though it's almost too far for you to make out the details at this distance. There appears to be some doors there as well. In the middle of the room in front of you though is a large smooth ramp that leads up. You have too little time to take in the rest at the moment.
+2 Sneak exp.
Ajax-
(Action:1!) You set out your items to trade. Rather, you leave them lying in a jumbled heap on the ground and hope that the fact that they're bloody doesn't bother the dwarves. You eat one of the portions of steak and begin to feel a little better about things. Food always does that.
There are quite a few things set out to trade, a variety of stone goods, most quite excellent looking, including toys. There are piles of clothing that they simply don't seem to care about and you even notice some human sized pieces, though they are of a strange weave and design. There are some pieces of armor, if you can consider laminated cloth that is laquered, armor. (Observation check:1!) They have a decent selection of items, many of which are decorative rather than useful.
(Ugh... terrible rolls. Heh. Good thing you weren't already trading. lol)
As a note: I hate running NPC's, which is why they tend to get killed rather quickly. Therefore, I've decided to try something different with the goblin prisoner and have bumped up Groveller's place in the lineup. I apologize to Kel, who was technically in line ahead of him. I'd rather have an extra person for a bit than deal with an NPC. So, welcome Groveller, whose character is 'the goblin'. As a note, he ate all the goblin food and drink, and the only equipment (other than clothes) are what he pilfered off the other goblins. He also starts out wounded according to the beating he took in becoming a prisoner. So he's got advantages and disavantages of starting out as he does. He's with a group that, apparently, doesn't want to kill him yet. But neither do they trust him much. Additionally, he's probably got a grudge against Dwareet'ik for the thrashing and subsequent burning of the bridge. Add into that the fact that he's a priest class and Dwareet'ik is a shaman and things may get interesting. Nonetheless, let the exploration resume!
Groveller, you have until Thursday to post your first action, at which point I'll find some needlessly cruel way to kill off your character. (I mean, if you haven't posted by then I'll find some way... of course, no survival guarantees either.)
