How would that help?
Achieves the same goal with almost no changes to the game at all.

Saving overall settings as a preset option would be useful in addition to the category slider. You could load the list saved earlier and remove wood and leathers from this year's orders conveniently if you don't need them

I see saving profiles as needlessly complex.
However, autosave + optional 'reload' of the previous agreement might be usefull.

Actually, previous agreement is already "autosaved" (you can view it in civ screen at any time). So it requires just "Remember last year agreement" button in dialog - should be a half-an-hour deal.

I think submenus would be ideal, yeah.  After all, the other guy's requests are "Metal Bars" or "Legwear".  It would be nice to have them nested that way, so we could request leather in general, or flux stone in general, or bauxite in particular.

Agreed. Sometimes you want to import a specific kind of wood or leather or whatever, but most of the time you just want logs/hides and don't care where they came from. :)

How about something simpler:  When you're on the left side of the menu, the key to move the slider moves all the sliders in that section.  No need to organize something already organized by sections afterall.

Clever. Not the most powerful or intuitive solution, but if it's something Toady could do in five minutes, it'd be a nice little fix for now.
