... We set sail from St. Kitts to try and intercept the French sloop, and gain the sail maker. We were out of port a month, nay a few weeks before we sighted the ship on the horizon. Pulling down our English flags we put up our pirate flags, unlike any ever seen before, they were not to put fear into the enemy, but pride into us. Our lookout counted the men on the other ship before we engage, 10 guns, 51 men. Easy pickings...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
... It was a chase, not a fight. Pulling down our colours we powered around, firing round shots at them from near the maximum range. We kept firing, we tacked until we got close enough to fire chain shot, we shot the chain and cut down their sails, slowing them down. But it was enough. We finally got in range to board, with but one casualty on our side and 4 on the other. Finally the ships clashed, smashing into each other our men grabbed hooks and planks and laid them across the ships, I was on the first on. Finally the captain came out of cowering, and we dueled...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
... In the fire on the deck, the nighttime battle raged on. In truth, it was a massacre. The captain got few shots on me, I pushed him back, using things around from buckets to hooks, I gained the advantage. Until finally he had backed up so much, there was no way to go... But overboard.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
... It was a pretty plunder. We got 200 odd gold, and various supplies and goods. Cannons too, that sail maker was press ganged to work for us to....
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
... We decided to keep the sloop, for now, in order to take all the plunder. However, we soon continued, heading for the nearest port...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
... Nevis, a wealthy English town. There we would figure out what to do next. We got to port, the first thing I did was see the merchant. I sold all our spice to him, he was quite wealthy. I then sold all but 12 cannons. Bringing our stock to 28 tons of food and 12 cannons. I then went to see the shipwright. We repaired the spare sloop and then sold it. Visiting the tavern we gathered up 20 men to join us, lifting our numbers from 70 to 90. Then a man offered me a map to Blackbeards treasure. For 400 gold. It was a tricky decision for me. But I bought it...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
... It was a quarter of the map, but I estimated I could find the treasure with this scrap of map. But it may be a long way off. I talked with the Barwench, hoping for action but got something that was even better, a Spanish treasure fleet was headed for Cumana! Finally I talked with the bartender, he said the town needed fresh immigrants from Europe.

Yeah, we're not a fucking transport service.

Finally I went to the Governor. He literally said nothing, oh well.

What should we do now?
Get Blackbeards treasure*?
Prey on the Dutch?
Prey on the Spanish?
Prey on the English?
Prey on the French?
Prey on everyone, Armok help them?
Go After the treasure fleet?
Other?

*It will be difficult to find the treasure, but I defiantly can.

Nice indeed. I'm not sure you can find the treasure, since a) Santa Matilda isn't a major city so I think you'd have to find it first and b) I'm not sure that it spawns the landmarks until you have the whole map. If it doesn't work like that, by all means get his treasure. It should give your crew a nice moral boost and your ship a few nice upgrades.

Otherwise, choose someone not to attack and kill everyone else. Not being able to dock with any of the European powers is annoying, but as long as you've got one everyone else is fair game. I personally like the Dutch, because the Dutch are awesome, but you may choose differently.

Fuck. Game crashed before I could save: One thing changed, the guy offered me some lockpicks instead of the treasure map, so no treasure.

i tryed a lets play of this. failed because the way i was doing it made it way too slow. i think i'll follow this one though. avenge my failure or something to that effect.
EDIT: and i looked at the first two pages of the reference in the beginning. i thought it was kinda boring so i stopped watching it. it looks like i was so wrong i shouldn't sell my soul to Armok since at this point it would be an insult.

EDIT: also, go after the treasure fleet. those things usually have 1000+ gold on them if i'm not mistaken.

... After little deliberation we set out after the treasure fleet, plundering the Dutch and Spanish ships along the way, all the while recruiting at ports we came across. Friendly ports. In Montserrat we came across a treasure map.. For Bart Roberts Treasure. Alas, it was a small piece of the map. We had no landmarks we could find on it, so we kept it and continued. Mayhap we shall stumble upon other pieces of the map...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
... We found nothing interesting more and speedily left, for fear of retribution for previous attacks upon the French. Continuing south, Island hopping, we planned to stop off at Guadeloupe, however as soon as we got into range of the town, their cannons opened fire upon us. It was not a necessary stop, so we turned around. I called a vendetta upon the French, all but the English shall be plundered. The ship we came across was a French ship, a French merchant man, ripe for plunder...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
... It was a short match of cat and mouse, firing a few broadsides we closed in. Boarding the enemy I quickly attacked the captain, dueling him overboard.  After the battle was over we press ganged a few men into service, while we gathered supplies, cannons and goods. We decided to keep the ship to keep all the plunder, we also plundered 200 gold coins. Few, considering what we may achieve...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
... We continued on after that achievement, hoping for a friendly town to dock, recruit, repair and gather news and rumors. After island hopping for a week or two a call came from the lookout. A pirate hunter was seen to the rear of the ship, we turned to engage, to teach this knave a lesson in Armok, in Ozymandias...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
... It did not go well, the ship outmaneuvered us. It destroyed our sails, than our ship. We sunk, then our merchantman sunk. I was washed up on shore a deserted island, of the other I do not know. A passing pirate ship picked me up some times later, they quickly elected me as captain. I decided to forget about the previous happenings, and strive forward. We passed no ships until on the coast of Brazil, we saw the ship of Bart Roberts attack a Spanish trade galleon, we did nothing but pass. We decided to not attack anything until we reached Margarita. In the tavern we recruited men, we then found out there was a Spanish Treasure Fleet heading to Rio De La Hacha. That was some way up the coast, perhaps longer than what we just traveled. We decided to go to Cumana, to see if the Treasure fleet was there, heading there or gone. In Cumana we found that Bart Robert carries 1400 gold with him. Amazingly in Cumana we filled our sailor capacity in one recruitment. Dutch Raiders were seen on the horizon and the call went out, we were first up, not in defense of Spain but in attack of the Dutch. Quickly, outgunned and outmanned we moved in, hitting them and boarding. We quickly sized the ship, killing all those who did not join us and kicking the captain overboard. We gained a skilled carpenter to join us, 10 sailors joined us. We gained a bit of loot, and our largest single gain of gold yet...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
...Limping back into port, captured ship in tow we were treated as heroes by the populace, more so by the governor. We went to the governors palace, there he promoted us to captain, in recognition of our captures. His Daughter entered while we were talking, she is quite beautiful. She said that if I attain more ranks, I can take her to some GrandBall. With this the merchants started trading with us, we repaired out ships and sold the captured one. Now we sit in a smoky tavern, deciding what to do.

Okay, not the greatest luck. However we technically only lost a hundred gold directly. What should we do:

Wait for the Treasure Fleet?
Go to where you think the Treasure Fleet will be (Rio De La Hacha)?
Stay with Spain and prey upon the Dutch and French?
Go after Bart Roberts?
Other?

Nah, I would say not. We don't have much information on its wherebouts. If we can get another piece of the map, one that has good landmarks, I would say it IS a viable option. But, for now, lets try and get the piece of map we so wish for.

Wait for the treasure fleet while attacking everyone outside of the port who isn't Spain or the English.

...We decided to wait around for the Treasure Fleet, three months top. If it doesn't come, it was time to move on. We decided to leave Spanish ships, so that we had a bash of operations where we may later betray. The first ship we saw was a dutch sloop, we quickly went after it. We followed it firing broadside after broadside of round shot upon it. Soon they pulled down their colours, surrendering to us. No duel ensued...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
... Again we gained a large plunder, more than 600 gold, bringing our total to 1000. We went into port at Cumana, we sold the goods captured, repaired both ships and sold the second. we came out better than before, I chose to upgrade our flagship with copper plating. So it would turn faster. Going back to the tavern we gained more crew and another piece of Bart Roberts Treasure...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
... We still could not find the treasure with what we have, so we continued on. The captain of the guard was being a knave, talking to the barmaid in a scandalous tone...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
... I challenged him to a duel, after he threatened to run me through, I still do not know whether the woman was mad at me... Or the captain.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
... In the end the captain was knocked out, by a bottle smashed over the head by the barmaid. She gave me in return information that Bart Roberts sailed on a sloop of war. Fucking slut. All the bartender told me that I can get Iron Scantlings in Margarita. Speaking with the Governor he made me a major, and he gave me 50 acres outside the town. His daughter came in and told me the same thing as before. :|

Sailing back out we waited, from November of 1640 to February of 1641 we waited, the fleet did not come. We had missed it, we decided to continue off to find Bart Roberts, and take his ship and his gold through force of arms. Stopping at Margarita we gained another piece of Bart Roberts map...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
... We still could not find the treasure, so we left and continued on, preying on all French and Dutch Ships. Continuing down we spotted Bart Roberts but did not engage, we stopped at his home port and repaired and restocked. Finally we set out, to take our legacy for us...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
...We attacked, again we were outgunned and outmanned. But we went in, perhaps our only hope was to board him. He engaged us first, he shot of a round then turned to chase us. He was going to board us whether we wanted him to or not, we fired volley after volley upon him, we took out enough men to not be outnumbered. Finally we jumped ship and dueled...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Using subterfuge and tricky we defeated him, leaving him for Armoks Locker. We captured his ship, gaining six sailors, a Sloop of War - our new flagship - goods, cannons, food and finally 1800 gold. Our best yet, we set sail for the nearest pirate haven and rested. We added cotton sails to the sloop of war, for it to travel faster. In that place we found the final piece to Bart Roberts map...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
... We could find it now. We sold the sloop and made ready the Sloop of War, for whatever comes...

Okay.
