Wooden weapons?

So I was quite unaware that wooden weapons were a possibility at all.

Except you see, the Elves just brought a mahogany short sword.
A MAHOGANY SHORT SWORD.
How do I make wooden weapons?

I think I'll just show my "appreciation" for this... insult... by making new elfbone equipment. >.>

from what i understand you can't make wooden weapons you can only take trade for them from the elves

Only the elves have the skill to make wooden weapons.

Which is good, because they lack the brains to make metal ones.

when you live in trees, you can't really forge anything. They need something to fight with or every Elven war would devolve quickly into slapping sessions

Take them from the elfs and use the wood weapons for training. I have a champion sword dwarf because he did nothing but train with a wood sword on some poor dorf in platemail.

strange...i just had a caravan come by last night...with the same sword.. too bad i couldnt  get my  ballista up in time, otherwise i would have shot em.

hey as far as I know about fantasy elven they can forge metal weapons the mitryl ones that are stronger than steel and more lighter despse that they are a bioproduct of the silver

I don't think they really live in the trees.
Someone should send a liaison to them and ask them to stop being hypocrites sitting on trees and hurting them with their weight.

We may soon have the ability to make wooden practice weapons, I've been bugging Toady about it.  I would imagine they would do much less damage than anything the elves would make, though.

Elves are a very valuable resource!

Every year they sell me 100+ logs.

I then chuck these logs right into the furnaces to fuel my industry.  :D
