THE LEGION
Is looking for 6 able bodied dwarves to accompany CENTURION ROVOD SECTSTOCKADE on the establishment of a LEGION CAMP AND NAVAL SUPPLY BASE  on the edge of The Waters of Euphoria to aid the war agianst the GOBLIN AND ORCISH SCUM .Applicants are to inquire in person at the LEGION WAR OFFICE, all are welcome.

REMEMBER CITIZENS, PEACE THROUGH POWER!

So, basically I'm a community fortress with a decidedly martial theme to it. 3 male and 2 female dwarves are up for offer to begin with, and as per usual you may choose their skills. I trust I won't end up with 6 expert soap and cheese makers.

And here is the area, for those who want to know.

Cheap knockoff is cheap.

Nah, I'm cool. Best of luck to you.

Wouldn't say no to a dwarf though.
Name: Dogar
Skills: Weaponsmithing / Speardwarf.
Personality: Grumpy sonuvabitch, not a bad sort.

Can I have a Human Caravan Swordsman, he gives personal packages of booze to dwarves and he really hates the guild rep for hating booze, also in case of death make a guy named Ghost, Bowman,
Also neutral about elves, carp, and magma.
For the dwarf:
As long as its a male thats a hunter that becomes a crossbowdorf im fine

Ok, that everyone taken and dwarfed. For those that didn't get the gender they wanted, a small error (Read: powercut while setting everything up.) has played a small part in that.

Now, to begin.
______________________________________________________________________

This is the personal log of of Rovod Sectstockade, Centurion (2nd class) of the Legion, Administrative branch.

I fear that there has been a terrible, terrible mistake.

I have been chosen to lead an expedition to the Waters of Euphoria to set up a resupply and naval base, and of course train army regiment to protect and aid any other military operations in the area. I have (Hypothetically) been given the supplies and troops I need to set up a basic camp before reinforcements come from the nearest legion fortresses.
Most other Centurions would consider this a great honor, as you have been basically been told by the Prefect who commissioned the expedition that he trusts you not to run off with the gold given to buy supplies, or become a bandit, or get your face and beard torn off a mile outside the gates.

For me, however, this is a disaster. Perhaps even a death sentence.

I've never told anyone this, and I never plan to (Hoping to "lose" this log before I have to turn it in) but I'm something of a fraud. Thats not to say that I knifed someone in the back for this post, or outright lied and swindled my way to this position, but that I should never have made Centurion in the first place.
I'm not much of a commander, heck, I'm not much of a soldier. Sure, I know which end of the sword to hold it by and how to fasten my armor by myself, most of it  at least, but I basically know just enough to live till someone braver than me has killed the enemy while I hide in a dithc somewhere, and then only come out to join the celebration.
The only reason I got this rank was because I happened to be at the right time in the right place to save the one the Generals by hastily grabbing a a fallen crossbow and getting a lucky shot in on him during the battle of the Angry Hills.

If I had my way I'd be a farmer, with my own little plot of land growing plump helmets, or perhaps cabbages or something equally safe and non threatening. Perhaps if things go well I can still have my way....

Still, no point in making a fuss. Tomorrow, we set out. Of course, I'll only get a chance to actually meet the other luckless fools who've been sent off with me tomorrow as well.

Signed,

Rovod Sectstockade

PS: Must remember to doing something about pet cat. Perhaps the kitchen will take it for a good price.

Centurions Log, 12th Granite, 201.

So, I've been here a few days now and sort of gotten to know my exactly who I'm serving with. Well, sort of.

One of them, Phantom Kolked, ran off as soon as we arrived, saying something about it being rabbit season. A few minutes later rabbit corpses stared turning up around our makeshift camp, most of them looking as if they'd been bludgeoned to death with something, most likely that crossbow I aw Phantom carrying about.
I've set Dogar to butcher the rabbits, no point in wasting good meat.

Note- have someone carve some bolts for the lad before something bigger and meaner than rabbits start showing up.

Other than that, things are going about as well as can be expected. I've chosen an area that borders on the sea with a small cliff as our camp. It should be defensible enough once we've walled off the area, though that'll have to wait on me mining some usable rock out of the ground. I'm not too good with a pick, unfortunatly, and most of it just sort of shatters into rubble.

22nd Granite

Well, I've got the farms set up. Phatom is brining in more rabbits, and Dogar is butchering them, though he complains about getting the blood all over his uniform.
Samus, our axe dwarf and woodcutter, is doing a good job of bringing wood into the camp. We'll need it soon enough to make beds.

Oh, while mining out some limestone for our walls, I've struck a vein of Malachite. It'll be useful once we've to make some basic weapons and armor, in time.

12th Slate

Moved food storage underground, will have to move it again once we've set up a proper mess. I'll have to expand it again soon, at the rate that Phantom brings in the rabbit and Labs brings in the fish. Assuming we don't over fish these waters, and assuming nothing big comes and mauls Phatom, we should be well stocked for the coming winter.

16th Slate

The Blockhouse I've asked Samus to build (Caiman, fortification engineer, being too busy assisting me in mining) is coming a long nicely. Sure, its a bit small and'll be cramped, but Once we get a roof on and maybe even a small guard tower, we at least won't have to sleep in the dirt.

23rd Slate

I appear to be getting the hang of this mining business. Doesn't seem all that hard, perhaps I should have joined the the Engineering arm of the legion and become a sapper?
All this mining though has led me to neglect the farm a bit. We'll need those plump helmets to turn into booze soon.

15th Felsite

Well, the walls are up, the roof is on, and the beds are in. Not exactly the lap of luxury, but at least I won't have to sleepin the quarry anymore. Also, the small lookout tower has been started, as has a Trade Depot. On that note, Samus has taken charge of designing the thing. We can only hope it doesn't fall in on itself.

And that's all for now.

Blackburn- Well, we'll see once the first siege rolls around. With a bit of luck, he won't end up face down in the dirt.

I can only imagine that Gibs isn't living up to his/her dreams of beating shit senseless with a hammer to train for his/her eventual Sheriff/Captain position. =[
