Why not? Linux was feasible. Besides, I'm only waiting for 0.5
I'm not saying this applies to any of the cases here, but lately I've been seeing more and more people defending Windows because they don't want you to switch for selfish reasons... (ie: they just got their certification/training and think it will go to waste, they work for a software company making only Windows applications, or they support Windows and don't want another system to learn.)  They don't care that a it's only hurting the tech industry to have a sole major OS.  Complacent Operating systems inspire complacent tech workers leading it into an unskilled profession.
Alas, what we are doing is completely in the spirit of Capitalism. Whoever makes the best product gets the sales. When I find an OS whose features are worth a switch, then I will. However, as it stands Windows does what I need. Some people cannot make Windows work, so they use a different OS.

Buck up friendo, we're all on the level here.
I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

I wouldn't say cannot... Windows doesn't do half the stuff my Linux does. ;)  Windows doesn't cut it.

And yes, I know what ReactOS is.

I'm still rooting for ReactOS.
But can it run Crysis?

It says it's binary compatible with windows, so it can load windows .exe and .dll -s, so I don't see why not.

"Whoever makes the best product gets the sales" depends on a whole lot of assumptions you just can't make.

I've seen a lot of popular products with better, often lower-cost alternatives that nobody buys, because the popular product has other things going for it, like years-long advertising campaigns and brand recognition.

Yeah.
Brand recognition are the shite. Really.
We should outlaw brand as soon as possible!

I'm using Vista right now and I've never had a BSOD.  It's fast, easy to use, everything on it works.  I'm amazed Windows hasn't sued Mac for libel with those commercials.

My XP has had BSODs, but that's because I've had it forever and I haven't always been smart enough to use it properly.  When it did BSOD, if I didn't know the exact cause I could find it in about thirty seconds on Google, and it was inevitably something stupid I did or something a program did, not Windows itself.

They don't need too. Every current computer that ships or is sold complete, now comes with Vista installed. Although I would wish they'd stay with Windows XP. I prefer it 9 times out of 10 to Vista. I have 3 gigs of RAM on this laptop and it feels like I have 2. Vista isn't a ban attempt on microsoft's part to make Windows Leopard. I think Windows 7 will do much better.

I've thought about switching to Mac, but have always been deterred by the following things:

They have their own problems
They are much more expensive than similar PCs in terms of power
Compatibility problems
My games will stop working, and games are often windows only, with macs often having problems
Apple enjoys ripping people off just as much as Microsoft.  £50 extra for a black computer.  'Nuff said.
And, most importantly, I don't actually need a new computer at the moment.

I lost my trust in Apple due to iTunes Plus  cost conversion.
