The best possibility for communication over interstellar distances is probably high powered lasers, or manipulation of gravity.
Or whatever dark matter lets off.
Gravity, coincidentally.
What is not Gravity.

Evolution doesn't happen overnight. It happens over MILLIONS OF YEARS. Scientists estimate that it took 5.5 million years for humans to evolve from single cell organisms. (I'm talking from memory here. Someone verify this.)

Your missing a few Zeros there. Single cell organism appeared about 3.8 billion years ago. I think that figure(5.5 million y.a) is about how long ago we diverged from our common ancestor with Gorillas and Chimps.

Dayuuumn. So many pages appeared overnight so I'll just reply to this one now.

Like I said. The figure came from memory and it did occur to me as a bit short. But I knew it couldn't be 5.5 billion years. So I guess the proper figure would be 3.8 billion years. Meh.

Unsuccessful troll is surprisingly successful.

On Topic: I'm not really interested in spewing my own religious thoughts, only that I agree most with Aqizzar (there is an infinite distance between godlike and God) and disagree most with Yanlin. I know scores of religious scientists, and any scientist that knows a bit about the history of science, philosophy and mathematics (specifically Gödel) knows the limitations of science and the scientific method: It is useful but incomplete.

Also, for fun, Gödel's ontological proof that there is a God (for certain values of God):

That's math and it fails at the very first step. Girls != Time * Money

They require Time AND Money. So Girls = Time + Money.

Propositional Logic transcends a language like English. Anyone pretending to adhere to the scientific method should at least be semi-proficient in logic, as it is one of the bases on which the method rests.

"God, by definition, is that than which a greater cannot be thought. God exists in the understanding. If God exists in the understanding, we could imagine Him to be greater by existing in reality. Therefore, God must exist."
That assumes reality is greater than understanding.

That assumes reality is greater than understanding.
Assuming the opposite is an act of hubris that is not often seen in man.

Yanlin hates philosophy, that explains his belief in the God of Science.

Curse you for making me come back for one last retort.

No. I love philosophy. I just hate Aristotle style philosophy and theology.

Please note everything I post here is logic and semantic games, not necessary serious. In fact, I realize there are several flaws in the following logic, and am just trolling.

Gödel:
{
#Define "god" as that than which a greater cannot be thought.
#Observation: God exists in "the understanding".
#ASSUMPTION: something existing in "reality" is greater than something existing in "the understanding".
#Therefore: God exists in "reality".
}

# Observation: in this world, suffering exists.
# Define "god" as an entity that is infallible/omnipotent, and good.
# Define "good": something that opposes and tries to prevent suffering
# Define "infallible/omnipotent": always succeeds at what it tries to do
# Therefore: if there is a god, there is no suffering.
# Therefore: god does not exist.
# Therefore: understanding is greater than reality.

Flaw example: uses 2 different definitions of "god". If a being greater than that which can be thought is malevolent or neutral, it wont work and it might according to this exists. but in that case we have worse things to worry about.
