the blue cursed stuff that the nobles sought after

Urist is an expert grower.

EDIT:
And Pete is down with a yellow leg wound. Good thing we ran into that spring behind the barracks. Otherwise getting water for all these slops would be a tad difficult.

Urist has been bedridden for a while. Either a training accident or... something or other. It's his right hand.

It's not that bad. It's just a yellow wound, it's just taking it's time to heal.
Hey, at least you won't have to risk your neck the next time we have an attack.

The monotony of winter remained unbroken. The constant weapons training was bringing results, and the new dwarves began to look like a fighting force. It was a little unfortunate that their eagerness to swing their weapons increased faster than their skill, resulting in quite a few accidents.

Scraps between the new fighters were becoming more common. As Skal was taking care of most of the daily business, Lokum promoted Skrymir to be the new sheriff. Bolstered by the new title, Skrymir set up some pretty draconian rules about fighting: Fight outside the ring and spend the night in the pit. Things quieted down quickly after that. Skrymir even got his own office, next to the weapons room.

It was mid-spring when more prisoners arrived. Lokum strode out to watch them with the others. Nil and Skrymir were making jokes about the new arrivals, when they suddenly fell quiet. Lokum followed their gaze.

End of Chapter 2

Well, orcs have trapavoid. And damblock up the bum. Using blackmetal gear levels the playing field somewhat.

yeah i shamefully lost a fort to them because of that so i removed trap avoid to even things up a little. rest is still vanilla orcs but am not dumb enough to charge at em like one of the players in SG 3  :D
