I find it at least sorta odd that 40 years later after his death, someone from a different civ decides to worship him.

A creature the generator doesn't keep the name in memory. There is an option so as to make it remember more details, but it costs space on your hard-drive.

This demon was perhaps shot by a GCS who never earned a name, so the generator considered it was a meaningless creature. To me, something that could bring a demon down would deserve a name. It may be a bug.

This seems perfectly reasonable to me. Just how many examples of this exact thing have we had in reality?

Jesus would be a good example, except there's severe doubts as to whether he existed at all. Roman court records fail to mention him, which is a pretty severe strike against.

How about Vladimir Lenin? I do consider the veneration he received after his death to be 'worshipful' in a way. How his body was preserved and displayed.

Edit: In fact, there's a suggestion in there somewhere.

There are no surviving court records from that era, making that a moot point.

In any case, Christianity as a religion started out at around the middle of the first century, which is roughly around the time at which Jesus presumably started preaching.

What is confusing about the OP is that the elf was the first being to start worshipping the demon, and since its corpse got eaten and it had no followers at the time of its death, the elf should not have known of its existence in the first place.

The resulting party killed 20 dwarves, crippled 2 more and the remaining 9 managed to get along and have a nice party.

It had no followers, no. Who says nobody knew about it at all?

The elf may even have decided that, because it's dead, it's a safe demon to worship. ^_^

Sort of reminds me of the end of "Mort"

Actually I would imagine based on the elf's title it was a goblin snatched child, and likely by the goblins that the demon was ruler of. So being raised by goblins, assuming my initial premise is correct, the elf could know about the demon and therefore worship it

depending on the year and the events before his death i would say it was a random generated military unit from the elves for the battle that got rid out of the system after it.
as you see sieges and battles spawn new never mentioned units, just like your embarking and migrating dwarfs they have no past... and no future.
so the system culls the name to save space

From "Angroshs Kinder" Das schwarze Auge Zwergenhandbuch - (Angrosh Children, the dark eye, german pen&paper, dwarven handbook):
"Elves!? Their men dont wear beards, and their women bathe nacked to lure you into the water and drown you. Thank Angrosh they are as ugly as the day and all big and skinny."

It's like the zerglings, they eventually were something down - it's just the lucky one to strike the final blow.

This can happen a lot, as people pass their megabeast worshipping religion down to their children. I see it all the time, megabeasts that haven't done a damn thing in ages having pages of new worshippers.
