Yeah but the thread is more about Breeding in a recklace and horrific way.

This is specifically giving a breed Aestetic features that are harmful to its health.

Have you seen the documentary I linked to in my first post? It's saying exactly that.

It reveals the "breed standards" published by Kennel Club UK encouraging selective breeding for looks, not health. Peking's and Pug's short snout are one of the examples stated in the show.

I didn't watch the documentary because I didn't want to see the Shock Factor Dog writhing in pain segment

Just hearing about it gives me shivers.

Yeah, that cavalier scene is very heart breaking.

Why aren't the Green Peace people harassing those horrible dog show breeders already?

I'd reccomend you watch it anyway, the cavaliers only take up the first quarter, the rest deals mostly with the kennel club, their weird-assedness and compares the breeds original looks to the incredibly exaggerated versions that are around now. Very interesting if you have anything at all to do with dogs or dog owners.

Also Greenpeace probably aren't even really aware of the problems all the inbreeding cause - they're probably just looking at it like I did and assume that the inbred dogs are either fine, sterile or just disfigured, not actually *suffering* from their malformed bodies.

Also goddamn I still can't get over how horrible those German Shepards were in the dogshow clips they used... I thought the dog was scared and cowering until they started detailing their hip issues. I'd always figured that the whole point of German Shepard showing was to make strong-looking dogs, not freakin' hunchbacks.

Because Greenpeace is an environmental organization, not an animal rights organization.

In the video it's pretty clear that the RSPCA was harrassing them about it.

Does the video exist anywhere else? It refuses to load properly at where you pointed out Kc.

EDIT: I found the video chopped into parts on Youtube, here:

Look no one wants PETA to become involved in anything.

Frankly I lost respect for them multiple times.

That Thanksgiving game really did it for me (or was it Christmas?). I mean, seriously, 'cooking mama kills animals'?

EDIT: 'Twas Thanksgiving. Take a look if you haven't seen it yet. http://www.peta.org/cooking-mama/index.asp?c=pcmgb08
