Well, only if you kill your pet cat.

Or in DF 1.0 when you encounter Erwin Purrsplenty, the patron god of catsplosions and hygienic food consumption.  Expect a great deal of smiting from him in all proper fortresses.

in ADOM killing any cat does bring down the wrath of one of the gods, though you don't really know that until the end of the game.  The only hint earlier is that your first cat-kill has special text about a wail and its ghost heading up to heaven or something.

Note: it's incredibly difficult to win without killing a cat (assuming that winning by itself wasn't already incredibly difficlt).
