Doesnt DX8 look a lot less nice than DX9? In stalker it makes a whole lot of difference, but yeah, DX8 needs a lot less power.

It removes the "shiny" of the models, but who cares when it goes 50 FPS on high settings!

2g of Ram

2.1 GHZ processor

Geforce 6150 Graphics Card (Integrated  :( )

I basically am this guy
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It can actually run Team Fortress 2 at a decent Fps, though low settings of course.

HEY! HEY! HEY!  You have the same specs for my back-up computer.  When I play Team Fortress 2 on it I can get 40-50 FPS at 1024x768 resolution at high settings.  You want to know how?  How?  How?  Set the directX level to 8.  Google it or something, the FPS boost is AMAZING for those specs.

I did get a good fps boost but its more like 25 Fps at those settings. Still it really helped alot.

About 15 at 800*600 resolution and low settings.

3.5gb ram
Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00GHz
GeForce 9600 GT

Cost me $600 Canadian prebuilt by some guy in Toronto who shipped it out to me.

Good CPU, but the VGA is quite mediocre. Why don't you purchase a better one? Well of course if you don't play any FPS games or something like that...it's not necessary.  :)
[PS. The E8400 can be easily OCed to 3.6 Ghz. All you need is a quality cooler for it. If you are interested in OCing.... ;)]

Who needs a cooler?!  You can use the computer instead of a furnace for warmth!  Save money, the wal-mart way.

Like I said on another thread. I can play every single recent game on max, contrary to what the naysayers say. Why do I need to upgrade?

note: I use XP. No Directx 10.

"can play" means different things to different people. 30 fps for instance is not "can play" for me.

Ohh come on :D I play old dos games and I dont mind turnbased games, I dont mind playing DF with a graphical refresh rate of 25 (as long as I get more steps per second than that....), but most modern 3d games are like hollywood blockbusters:

shallow eyecandy crap that exist just for the eyecandy. I can watch "coffee and cigarettes" on a small B&W screen, but Matrix/Star Wars - the unmentionable Episodes/Transformers just needs a big fucking screen to BLOW YOU AWAY WITH THE POWER OF ROCKING!

So if I'm gonna go for eyecandy, I want eyecandy... not e-stutter-pause-ye-wait-jitter-ca-have a coffebreak before the next frame-nd-damn this is unplayable-y.

30fps is fine for just about everyone, especially sense the game should be looking very smooth at that speed (sense 'lag' is detected at 10fps and below).

Intel Core 2 Quad 8200q (4 2.33ghz)
6gb something ram.
Dual 512mb Nvidia Sparkle 9600gt graphics card.
21'' Screen or something like that... Maybe 22.
The newest addition is the pretty glowing 750w power supply XD.

If you can't tell 60 from 30 frames, there's something wrong with your brain, probably  ;D

Seriously, there IS a difference. And by creating certain scenes, you can also make 60 discernable from say 100 frames, but most people will need help detecting that.

While your statement is true, it stems from the belief that our eyes see at 25FPS which is WRONG. Eyes don't see in FPS! It works COMPLETELY DIFFERENTLY!

It's just that at 25 FPS our standard smoothing methods in our brain start to work.

But to put it bluntly, it's not the actual FPS that determines how smooth something is. It's the difference between each frame.
