Clear Stone
« on: July 07, 2009, 08:37:46 am »

This is like a dump command without the exploit.

A "Clear Stone" designation instructs dwarves to take raw stone away from the designated tiles, allowing one to clear an ares for future development without having to pass through a dump command.  The stone is dropped wherever there's space, turning the designated area into a sort of anti-stockpile that says "stone anywhere but here."

Could we decide which materials would be hauled away or would it just be stone?

stone is the most likely culprit, but i would say a "clear <Stuff>" would be a better choice.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.

Better yet, an "exclusive" option for stockpiles. When set any object that is not in the stockpile will be removed.

What about blood and vomit also?

It would be nice to be able to clean up the trade depot area without having to wait for the season to change. Dwarves will automatically clean up if its underground, but they will ignore all messes above ground.

For that we need a seperate "clean" command. I have always wondered why we don't.

Both of those ideas seem great to me.

Why not just link the two together?

A general "tidy up the area" sort of command? Clean it of debris and various bodily fluids.

That would clear the trade depot of any items present

My trade depot gets fuller and fuller because whenever the goblins come, I move all their gear to the trade depto and it never gets moved off.
