So here's a suggestion. How about we elect moderators? On the last week of each month, there will be a poll in every forum section to vote who gets to be a moderator out of a list of people Today or ThreeToe pick. If we're unhappy with a moderator, we just vote him out.

Toady likely doesn't want to have this moderator business thrown into his face on a regular basis, though.  If he has to choose a moderator, it will likely be a deal where he wants to be bothered as little as possible, since the moderator is supposed to be the one dealing with issues.

If you do not feel like having these forums, please post a link to a forum that you do not moderate (Like the new VN thread) and lock it.

The new VN? Oh god no, please don't make us all go where Okenido went. What did any of us do to deserve that?

Seriously though, one-time (or very infrequent) moderation elections had occurred to me, and it's not a bad idea. I can think of quite a few folks on this forum who I couldn't imagine ever abusing mod privileges. And they would probably be happy to help. Then again, a bunch of people might just vote inaluct in for the lulz

Yeah, I can't imagine a voting system for moderators ever being abused. 

I'd rather moderators just be chosen by Toady/ThreeToe if it ever came to that, and if people didn't like the picks, well: "There's the door."

A few escalatingly hostile thread derailments was the part I caught. People seemed to not like Oki before that, though.

Edit : Also, stickying the forum guidelines was a good start.

I dont see why theres so much hate tword oki, I never really saw him as any different then the rest of those guys hentai derailing.

As for mods, I dont really know what to say about that. Im against it personaly. Fewer mods are always better.

Muted for 3 days and then decides to blubber on the "New VN Forums" about quitting the forums because he feels he was muted unfairly, calling Toady and ThreeToe "moralfagish" because he couldn't understand that constantly derailing the thread and talking about child porn and generally being disruptive might offend people. Apparently he seems to think that these forums are rotting from the inside out but shitting up threads with mentions of child porn and loli didn't contribute to that.

One of his reasons for quitting is: "There are far more interesting things to do other than troll Bay12 games with yaoi, and softcore pornography."

Yeah, sounds like a stand-up guy.

I'm for whatever relieves Toady and Threetoe's stress while maintaining the better aspects of our community and forum. If it takes moderators, or admin-activated shock collars, well, then that's what it takes. I just wish it hadn't come to this.

True, but I would rather have the users take care of their own problems, as people have said before this is a "mature" fourm. I would think that mature people dont need to be looked over like children.

Ugh, I see now. That is quite a... Dramatic? response over a three day mute, I guess I would understand if he were acctualy banned, but thats a whole different thing...

I still dont see why he got a three day mute rather then a warning like the others though, but I never really followed that thread that closely anyway.

 From what I saw, the others were more like "Ohshi- Sorry there, I got a little carried away..." and less "What, we're not breaking any rules! Stupid moral guardians, I never thought YOU could be one of them!"

 And to put away claims of Moral Guardianship, know that if we do not allow these images we will get outcries from a few people. Allowing them will cause outcries from many, many people. Just for the sheer reason of lack of maintenance, such images are not allowed.

 But yes, let us return from this talk of one person who might have been having a bad day or was in a mood similar to Toady and return to the future of these forums. Indeed, all we need is a stronger outcry from all of us whenever such things pop up. In reality we should have spoken up sooner about the TOS stretching, and through our community speak with people posting such things so they may stop these things. In this way we can keep Toady from worrying about the forums.
