Julian is an unpredictable and occasionlly terrifying son of a bitch.

On a totally unrelated note, don't you ever change, Keiseth, you rock too much.

Whoever Julian was, thanks a bunch for the help.

Shh, they'll start to think I'm a good person!

Heh. Good person or not, armadillo plate armour is armadillo plate armour. Even if my dodge is crap now. Thanks again.

On another note, things are picking up. I leveled fists up to level 4.6, bought some more armour to complement the stuff Keiseth gave me, and generally kick crackhead ass. Also, some dude called BruceDentanto managed to convince me to help him make a porno (by threatening to kill me). Now I'm a prospective corpmember of GRU. I even made a friend of my poor co-actor he got me to kill  :-\ And Maddnezz has finally stopped hunting me and trying to kill me. :)

No offense to any GRU members, but that just sounds disgusting. What ever happened to "you'll get a cut" or "you look so beautiful, you should be in a movie."

Dodge grinding...how? I somehow got 1 ip in dodge near the beginning, but since then I haven't gotten any. When I use non-parrying weaponry, like fists, I'm dodging but I still don't get ip. And does the 'dodge' command help train it?

I bought one of those armadillo plate's from sargo's and yeah, the dodge debuff really sucks. I'm thinking of going back to the lotus mogami-do and kote.

Also, fight crackheads wielding a weapon you are totally unskilled in and which sucks, wearing nothing, or at least nothing that will drop your dodge ability. Get horny, fight pacifist, grind dodge, and keep some form of healing handy.

I joined yesterday, and am planning on heading down the abomination route. Any suggestions on when I should head to the necropolis, or anything else I should know?

Well for a start you'd need at least 4 mutation slots for Abomination (Hideous Freak, Fuck Machine, Ripper Claws and Abomination itself). And i'm not sure you'd want to rush things.

Certainly it would be a while before you got there. Get your bearings before you make up your mind.

EDIT: Woohoo! Not only did I level fists to 5, BigB (not sure if he's one of you guys) showed me the way to the Iron Liver Mutation. In true Dwarfy fashion, it's my first mutation. HD is next, though I'd like to leave a slot free at all times, just in case. And for some reason, even though I have over 5000xp, I can still logoff at the cube.
Grinding dodge is next, as it is REALLY pitiful.

it seems I need to procure some sporks.
The butcher's knife is now too effective against crackheads.

Also, try to get Fuck Machine and Ripper, and then wait for at least three mutation slots before getting Freak. Once you get freak, you can no longer go into freedom city, well, not for long periods of time. so, it's probably a good idea to get freak and abom in successive hits, along with... I can't remember. Oh well.

I don't know what it is but i'm still unable to get ip in dodge. I've taken off my dodge hindering armor, grinded dodge, fought pacifist, with blade, fists, skill-less whips and even horny. My reflexes and senses are fairly good. Not sure what i'm doing wrong.

You have alot to think about before going abom. Consider this:

By the time you become a hideous freak, you can no long live in freedom city safely. C3-50s bots can break into apartments and kill you, and they can track you down for some time even after you're away from cams, don't forget hideous freaks are considered monsters and are attacked on sight by FCPD, unless you happen to be very good with sneak. Also, you'll never be able to buy from most stores, so you'll need a reliable friend to buy you cocoons and related stuff.

Hideous freak also comes with an annoyance: Mental diseases may aflict you everytime you clone. They go from silly random shouting to considerabl debuffs to your cool, brains and focus, and even endurance and senses. A experienced doctor can heal that for you by psychoanalyzing you, but you gotta do it fast before they develop, or it'll take a seriously skilled doctor to take it off you.

You clone randomly resets to the necropolis, doesn't happen often, but it does actualy happen once in a while, and it can be a real pain in the ass if you can't get past the group of deadbots on the way out (that one attacks even freaks). Things get considerably easier when you become an abom though, but even though you get awesome soaks and abilities, don't forget you can't use armor thicker then 4, so no deathsuits, kevlar, caballero, armordillo or practically any other kind of proper armor. You can still layer leather stuff on yourself and other cool stuff though to get some nice soaks (leather stuff, robes, trenchcoat, even a goddamn deathshead).

Unless you really know what you're doing or have considerably skilled friends that you can trust, I don't recommend becoming an abom.

Being an abom is pretty fun though, if you can cope with the hideous freak stuff, just remember that blades don't work nicely with an abom, much less guns. You'll be limited to fists, spears and clubs. You can technically still use whips, but why you'd use whips when you can use spears, fists and clubs with great efficiency is beyond me.

Also, protip: Don't grind dodge, its not worth it. Just gain XP and learn it from an NPC or player.

If I wanted to to grind dodge whenever i'm fighting to cut down on the steep xp price of learning dodge, do you think it might be that you can only gain ip when fighting things using weapons? So far i've only been fighting fist users.

edit: I ditched the armordillo plate for a cage jacket I got from sargos. I only get 1 less dodge debuff but it's got some hella blade protection. And it's easier on my puny 8 brawn character  :)
