No, I mean I went to Astral Complex. Unless someone sneakily renamed Broham Gardens as Astral Complex, put it up as AC on the map, and redecorated the inside with cosmic wallpaper.
I went to AC specifically because BG is the bottom of the bucket, so wannabe thieves will go there to try their low-level luck, while AC has better security for little gain. From my theorizing, AC would be the least likely to get burgled simply because nobody pays much attention to it (people at the bottom will bunk at Broham, people with cash will go somewhere better than AC).
Yes, they will, because tackling a high-security building means tougher security, and the FCPD if it's in FC, and lower security generally means lower-quality locks as well, since the players generally have less money to throw around protecting their apartment. But, random looting is pretty rare, because piles of junk aren't really worth fighting security over.
But that's just it, you're going to be dealing with security regardless of where the person is bunking down (well, to some extent). That means players will train themselves to high levels of capability in a number of areas so that they can handle whatever security they might come across, and since they've done that they'll just grind safely until they hop straight to the mid-line of Bradbury or the Palms. You're not going to train your sneaking and lockpicking skill in an area with owlmen, and you're not going to go treasurehunting without getting high skill levels in those areas so that you can actually go after the lucrative ones.
The at-risk places are the ultra low-end dives (Broham) because of very low security that people can get used to stealing from so that they get the hang of things, and the mid-range places for the thieves who are actually looking for something. Possibly also the ultra high-end places as well, for those nutcases who just feel the need to do something like that.
No one really needs an apartment anymore, since the xp restrictions on the cube hotel were lifted. They're basically just places to store your loot and call your own, which you log off in to protect your loot.
Yeah, I know. And on top of that I don't even have enough junk to qualify having a place to shove it. I still have fun going apartment hunting though.
I think the premise of a Bay12 corp is silly for several reasons: there aren't that many people from here there, most of them are happy in their respective corps, and if you set it up as a Bay12-only corp, you're creating a (weak) ivory tower which will piss people off, and lead to you getting griefed out of the game.
Figured I'd ask, since it was mentioned. That's a weird reaction you mention though, do you really think people will care enough to seriously grief a corporation out of the game just because they're exclusive? I thought SA had at least one dedicated gooncorp, but then again I suppose they've got the manpower to pull it off.
I haven't heard anything about zombies taking extra damage from blows to the head, and the wiki doesn't mention it (though the wiki is terribly outdated...).
I forget where exactly it was I read that, I think someone was talking about it in-game. Something where most damage will be severely cut down for hits everywhere but the head, where it gets increased. Should still be taken with a great deal of salt though, all things considered. Was just curious if that was common knowledge or not. After all, it'd be kind of an unfortunate surprise to headbutt someone and then spontaneously explode.
Speaking of which, I keep hearing references to "something fun" that Blink does when you've got the Hooligan mutation. Anybody know what that's supposed to be?
Odd about the tenant lists, but I can see why they would do that (I remember thinking when looking at my first list that "Wow,
this could certainly be abused...). It's just that now they really don't serve any purpose at all so far as I can tell.
