A lot of dudes have done pretty well with zombie gunners. It's probably still totally viable, unless the recent nerfs have really messed it up. You could waddle around with a .44, that's sort of classy.

Thanks again, Frog, for the blacklash.  :D

Been having problems with FLEX members lately; Not sure why, but apparently something others in my corp (and other corps) did, like killing/looting a rather aggressive member of their corp, led to me getting picked on because I'm pretty weak. NDY was nice enough to leave me alone after taking out 1/3 of my health with a headbutt... After I didn't notice he was attacking me.

Alright, fairly interesting day.  Distributed some crank, gave cigarettes to a couple chobos so I could keep my brains, tripled my worth in a few seconds, watched Frog get caught with his pants down and summarily executed (I tried to snag some of the items, but with two other people waiting on it everything was gone in four seconds.  Due to abbreviated syntax, I was looting the dog next to him.  They got katanas and electronics, I just got fleas) by Justin Bieber (after he'd paralyzed everyone with his horrible screeching), then I got butted out of the orphanage by a random assault by Scrub (yes, it shames me to say that him punching me was simply more than my character could take.  I had to retreat once and burn a nanite pack before I could see him dead.  At someone else's hands) and snorted a bit of piss crystal before slaughtering just enough orphans to get me to 0.07 points away from Whip 1.00.

Oh, and I just now noticed that Frog sent me a mail...  And I'm sorry to say pal, but Justin was the one who got your pack.  Is there some history between you two?

Alright, tallying up...  I've got standing invitations to OLW, KING, GOB, and I'm pretty sure there's another one that I can't remember the name to.  Still, nobody seems to comprehend why I'm not jumping at every opportunity to join a club.  Any club.

They entice me with contracts.  I counter with the fact that I can't actually do anything about the contracts because I can't kill anything yet.  They offer me the protection and companionship of experienced and likable players.  I deftly move the conversation to other paths in order to avoid mentioning that picking random strangers off the street is no way to gather a group of high-class individuals.  They tempt me with offers of valuable experience and tips from veteran players.  I wait for the punchline.

Oh well.  I'll wait and see how many corps I get invited to, I'm gonna start making a list.  Then once I've got this whole big ol' list of acronyms I can start asking what the damned differences are.

KING is the scrubcorp for perverts (from what Tahin or somebody said in corpchat when I asked if it was cool to kill Episode for bragging about how high his Fuck was, then insulting me when I told him to fuck off), don't know about the other two. HBARN currently has standing orders to kill anyone from KING on sight, preferably away from cameras. I have reservations about joining in on the fun because of the minor scuffle I had with KING on my other account, since by some stretches it could be could be considered alt abuse under "using an alt to get revenge on someone", despite there being nothing to get revenge for... :-\

Yeah, I've heard from several different sources to stay away from both TMI and HBARN.  I've heard at least two people say that KING is made up of dickwads as well.  Haven't heard anything about OLW aside from what Cheeba said when he was trying to recruit me to GOB, which was that they're pretty decent chaps.  He then clapped me on the shoulder in a solemn manner, indicating that he would be very sorry if I chose to join OLW instead of GOB...  Mainly because he'd have to kill me for doing so.

I also heard someone say that KREW was just a bunch of Something Awful assholes.  I hear a lot of things, none of which really helps me because it's all either biased or useless.

...and the stuff that I considered a proper recruiting drive lead to my short stay in TLE.  Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I like HBARN, though Scycide seems rather selective of who he lets in. Of course, in my case, I walked out of the museum, paged him saying that I hadn't played since pre-wipe, was looking to get back into things, and had heard HBARN was pretty cool, and was hired on the spot...

KREW basically just minds their own business. Their rules boil down to "Don't start shit, retaliate en masse if someone else starts shit, and always help your corpmates out if you can".

Not really a history, as much as Justin Bieber, being an abom, enjoys stealing from random people.

I was just wondering if it was someone from TLE, or some other person, who I could probably get it back from.

NDY is rather nice, he killed me in maas, realized how weak I was, apologized and paid for my clone.

And yeah, KING seems to be the new WHORE.
Episode was for some reason grind fuck in the hellfires showers.

HBARN is cool, they make Hats/Most of the corp is rather nice.

I don't know why people thought WHORE was so bad. Yeah, the leadership was crap, but the community within was pretty tight. Then drama happened and it never recovered and I don't even see most of the people from it since the wipe.

I'd really like to know which are the gooncorps so I could avoid them, but Wiki says goon$#!^ is everywhere so if that's to be believed, it's unavoidable.

There just doesn't seem to be any real unbiased review of... well... any corp.

At this rate, Kagus, you may be better off making your own corp if you're being told to stay away from all the ones worth joining. Who said TMI wouldn't be decent? I'm currently in it; only have problems when other people are starting shit (and spreading rumors, obviously). They're rather helpful, as far as getting my ass out of trouble (which happens fairly often when I'm 'exploring') and they tend to answer all of my newb questions/ponderings.

HBARN also seems pretty chill, I've done business with members of HBARN and TLE as well as OLW.

And yeah, as far as I can tell with how easy it is to make alts, goons are pretty hard to avoid. You can't really tell unless you're there and are a good judge of character (for as easy as that is in a completely text based game). Biases come off of personal experience; despite one of my corp's managers saying to stay away from 90% of the population, most of them are relatively helpful and won't fuck you over just to do so. The remaining 10% does tend to speak the loudest, and are the most annoying to run into, though.

Aye, create your own corp. I may come back if we start up a Bay12 corp. Though it would be best not to mention where we come from. They like DF, but they tend to show their like with free bullets, cause its that sort of game.

It's tempting, I honestly hadn't thought about the idea of making a Bay12 corp.  But just making a corp for myself?  I don't really see the point.  Not at this stage, at any rate.

I've been doing some apartment hunting, even though I really don't need to.  Both the Sweaty Palms and the Bradbury are completely packed, no vacancies left.  I suspect this might have something to do with all the hints posted around about how they're the ones to get into for early/intermediate characters...

So instead, I went over to look at the much-maligned Astral Complex.  Dirt cheap monthly rate, and the up-front fee is a pittance.  I went down into the basement and found four gorillabots and two owlmen sitting there with nothing to do.

And then I checked out the apartments themselves...  Went up through all three floors, read the tenant listings...   And, so far as I can tell, there's not a soul living there.  Not so much as a single tenant is listed on any of the wings, but the front desk says there are only 44 vacancies.  Unless the tenant list just doesn't show any names, the only other reasoning I can think of is that only 44 of the 90 apartments are open to players.  Unless there is no reasoning involved and it's just a goof.

Fun stuff, eh?  I figured I'd just look at the cheaper and less-prestigious apartments because thieves would be less likely to try their luck on them.  People who are secure enough in their abilities to loot the apartments of other players are going to target the higher-rent areas because they know they can handle the security.  They're not going to waste their time shuffling through the newbie junkpiles.

Of course, I still don't actually need an apartment, so all this is fairly moot.  Still though, interesting to note.

Now, if other people are actually interested in putting together a Bay12 corp, what do y'all think it should be named?  Or should we even dare attempt it?

As for other corps, I can't remember the people who said that TMI and HBARN were to be avoided at all costs...  What was interesting was that in both corps were named each time.  I can say that I personally did not agree with TLE, but they're a fine match for people who aren't, well, me.  To each their own.  And Vayra was fairly amicable, plus I helped out Dude from TLE after I'd left, and he was a nice enough fellow.  He wasn't particularly enamored with TLE at that point though.

I've been thinking a bit more about Stubbs, fiddling with some of the mutations...  I'm interested in seeing what theoretical character I wind up with.

EDIT: Would someone mind clarifying something for me? I know that certain mutations "upgrade" into stronger/different variants, but does that they replace or add on to the previous mutation?  Like with Firewalker-Solar Sponge.  Firewalker has 5-8 burn soak, Sponge has 1-3.  Does that mean getting the Sponge mutation will give you 1-3 total or 6-11 total?

EDIT2:  Zombie + Headbutt...  Zombies supposedly take quadruple damage for headshots, does that mean they'll seriously mess themselves up for headbutting someone?

There are no longer lists of players owning apartments, due to the ease of tracking. From what I hear, it got really bad.

If your looking for a place to stay, there is a lovely hotel out in Lurleen. Its a bit of a hike, but fairly cheap, and it NEVER gets raided, unlike Bradbury and Sweaty Palms. Well, not never, but rarely enough.

I need more ways to get money other than: 1. Selling scrap that I find lying around.(VERY low yield) 2. Completing basic contracts. (Eugenic Cleansing takes a while when you can't kill war vets.) and 3. Selling Viagra to old people/selling soylent red to hungry citizens.
I've got about $600 right now and I need over $4,000 for a better club since I maxed out with this one. Unless there's something better than a pickaxe for cheaper.

Scavenge Sharpton Heights. Snag a trashbag, and throw everything but the cinderblocks and scrap wood into it. You can get a couple thousand a trip with 1 raw scavenge easy.

Ah, I was doing that but I was putting it in a duffle bag and taking it all out to sell each thing individually. You're saying that I just sell the full trashbag?
