Creating racial hatred through raws?
« on: July 06, 2009, 08:20:03 pm »

I tried copying over the personality modifiers from goblins and gave [liKES_FIGHTING] to the elves, and gave dwarves goblin ethics, but after world gen they weren't at war.. =/
Any help on how to successfully pit races against each other?

Add the [SPHERE_WAR] [SPHERE_VICTORY] and a few others.

I think.

I don't think so, Im_Sparks. That will, I think just make 'em worship bronze colossi and the like.

If you're looking for *real* war, Danarca, and not 'default' war like the Goblins in vanilla or Rysith's orcs, I'm not sure I can help you. However, hostility is always possible. You can add [SNATCHER] or whatever the tag is, i forget, to the agressor's ENTITY file, or you can replace [INTELLIGENT] in their creature file with [CAN_LEARN] and [CAN_CIV]. The Babysnatcher tag will cause them to first steal chldren, then siege after 80 population, but [CAN_CIV] and [CAN_LEARN] will make thm siege ASAP, i.e. in their first active season after the first caravan.

The real trick to racial emnity is just compare their ethics, and make sure they're opposed.

Yes, make sure each race has one or two things acceptable that are unthinkable in the other one. Make torture acceptable to the goblins and unthinkable to the elves, and eating sapients acceptable to the elves and unthinkable to the goblins.

Also, I believe there have been wars waged regarding the worship of demons, so I'm sure spheres can be manipulated towards some sort of effect...

Holy wars tend to be very one-sided and violent affairs, I've noted. Giving civs opposing elements to worship (One side light, other side dark, for instance) will usually make them violently opposed if one of the civ leaders is an adamant worshipper of the opposing God in question.
