For me it would have to be the two blowpipes my bowers produced. Thanks a lot you jerks. At least I have an extra legendary crossbow maker in case the first gets goblin'ed.

Best artifact? Not sure, but the most memorable ones would be the two statues from my first fort, hell one of them was made of wood. In another one I even got a bone statue.

A turtle shell toy sword. menaces with spikes of green glass...and bands of turtle shell...and rings of green glass...  It made me another legendary bone carver, out of one of my wrestlers.  Which means I'm gonna be mixing his unskilled self up with the champions.

I don't even need another bone carver.  I already had 2 bone carver moods that made legendaries.  And I already can't supply them with enough bones to turn into bolts.  They even made significantly better artifacts, a bone hatchcover called "Bogcrab the Taker of Teeth",  and a turtle shell cage "Clutchpaddles the Beloved Quickness".  Both of which's names amuse me to no end and have been strategically placed to spur happy thoughts.  What the hell am I supposed to do with a toy?

Actually, that is not completely useless, use it in a well and you will get the benefits of an artifact bucket. It may not be the best as I got one made out of crystal once, but it is an artifact.

Exactly. Even if it's only worth a couple thousand your dwarves will be admiring the completely sublime well you can make out of this.

I can hardly believe anyone would bitch about an artifact bucket as being a "waste" of material and/or useless. If anything, buckets are among the best artifacts to have (though admittedly something like an axe, sword or plate mail outshine a bucket by far).

...but woodcrafters are practically useless because crafts are the least useful thing to use a (relatively) limited resource on.

Maybe, but that doesn't make an artifact cabinet any worse. How you can call that a bad artifact is fucking beyond me. Sure, it isn't great, but at least it isn't useless.
