Seeing the partial success that this topic has had, I decided to continue this farce and review another game. When you live in the country with no cable and dial up, one must apperciate what you have on hand, and when you lie with two siblings, that's not alot. however, i think one of the games that has taken most of my time would be the no-doubt-pot-influenced Super Mario 64.
It's-a me, Mario. I'm-a high as a kite
Like many epics before it, you are wisked away from your loving home in order to quest for the fair maden and AHAHAHAHAHA no no, it starts off with mario being invited for cake. You enter the castle (which is beautiful, for that time's graphics) to find that Peach is gone and the cake is a lie (oh, you saw that joke coming a mile away).
In order to save the princess from the hands of bowser (it's kinda of obvious) you have to travil through the verious lands inside painting (Did i mention this was influenced by pot?) find stars so that you can opened doors to new worlds and start all over again. and over and over and over and...
"You may have defeated me now, but you'll have to fight me 3 more times!"
While it wasn't Super Mario Brothers 3, the game advanced in some many ways that it would practicly revolutionized the gaming indestry. The controls handle very well, alowing you to explore the worlds with mario's skilled jumping (and still able to beat the stuffing out of goombas) and there was always something fun to do in it's creative setting, nothing more joyful than the flying cap. The game was also much easier than its predeceors, as ther weren't nearly as many bottemless pits.
The horror...
One of the most important thing about this game was (and in a way still is) the fact that it's 3D. True, it was not the first 3D game, not by a longshot, but it was done so well, and is the marker point for when many moved on from the sprites and onto greater things. it also showed that it was possible to transend that barrier from a 2D series to a 3D series, though many others did not survive the transaction.
The horror...
I'm sure most people would agree that Mario 64 is a good game and even the new generations should play it, but Nintendo have also seen the success of the game, and have been trying to emulate that success fo years, with varying results. Seriously, the cow is dead. Then again, considering how most of there games started, I think nintendo has always been a few cows short of a herd.
