out of curiousity, has anyone found a feature-packed site in an evil (or haunted or terrifying) biome?

I noticed someone in the succession forums found a nice terrifying 4x4 using UltraFinder. It's using modified raws though.

Magma Pipe, Chasm, Bottomless Pit, Underground Pool, Underground River, Surface River, Hidden Fun Stuff, Abundant Sedimentary Rock, Black Sand and plenty of skeletal creatures.

Alright, V2.8 will generate ~0 - 10 worlds before it just gives up and goes awry. Most of the time it will just stop at the main menu, but sometimes it attempts to make a adventurer or something else fun.

I just tried 2.6c, and apparently it's working fine now... I don't really know why, or what went wrong earlier, but it seems to work fine on either the "normal" colour scheme, or "another" colour scheme. I only tested it for a bit, though.

Thats... just strange. Version 2.8 reads colours in the exact same way that 2.6c does. I didn't modify that portion of the code at all.

The fact that it gets at least part way through the code, and up to several times over, tells me it's something much more sinister. Are you sure that the parameter set you are using generates with a playable civ 100% of the time? If the "dwarf mode" option isn't available, this code will not recognise that it needs to abort. I suppose I could handle that in a new release, too.

Sorry for the hassle, and cheers for your input, Lamp.

I'm kind of going on the assumption given the 220+ downloads, and seeing as I have had few reported instances of troubles, that this is working in the majority of cases.

...Then again, assumption is the mother of all fuck-ups.

Also, many thanks to whoever gave this haphazard beast a 5 star rating. I tilt my hat in your general direction.

Yeah, I was using the standard "Small" parameter to test so I don't think that's the problem... Heh, guess I'm just the unlucky one here.

Would it be possible to save screenshots of the choose site screen?  Preferably one for each biome.  Possibly ones for the height and cliffs display too.  I think I would find this more useful for me than the current embark image.

Consider it in for the next release :)

Edit: Just so people know, I'm not dead. I'm in the process of figuring out a more efficient\effective rewrite. If all goes as planned, this program will become much, much more than it is in it's current form (and hopefully far more reliable to the common majority, namely those having problems). This venture is likely to be wrought with peril, so I wouldn't hold your breath.

Yes, yes it is sonerohi. When you download UltraFinder there's two folders in it, one with v2.6c and one with v2.8.

Just to confirm, I downloaded the file.

Within it are two folders. One is labeled "UltraFinderV2.8 EXPERIMENTAL" and the other is labeled "UltraFinderV2.6c" and then within each of those folders, there is UltraFinderV2.8.exe and UltraFinderV2.6c.exe, along with their appropriate UltraFinder_Init.txt.

If you just right click on the *.rar file and select "extract here", you should end up with two folders; one containing each version. I'm not really sure where the confusion is coming from :-\

For the record, I see both folders and versions as well.

I'm getting all the folders too.

Sonerohi, what are you using to extract the file? If it's old there could be issues with it opening a newer archive.
