Yeah, but the original animators also dubbed it.  In Japanese.  That's why it's not silent.

Don't get me wrong, 4kids suck, but the main reason definately isn't dubbing.

It's not the worst part though, atleast they speak.


They change the plot and cut episodes out.  If you're going to do that, why get a show with blood and swears and stuff?

The best way to think of 4kids is exactly that... They are For Kids

The problem is however is that any show 4kids gets their hands on will never get taken by anyone else. (OnePiece did)

Though I like their Yu-Gi-Oh Dub but that show was never actually that good.

Also the problem with Original Japanese is that they pass around the same Voice actors and it annoys me greatly they all do the same voice (or few voices).

I could somehow see 4Kids buying Captain Planet and censoring that.

It has a freekish amount of actual guns, STDs, and religious fueds for a kids show.

Gargoyles used real guns for one episode almost.

Anyway, it really depends o the type of show. Things like cartoons and programmes for children seem to be able to get away with it a lot more. Anime is a specific case, and is made to be in Japanese.
Anything else: well, yes, dubbing is allowed but I always prefer to see it in the original language. ( An exception would be soaps, though I never watch them. Dubbed soaps are AWEFUL ).

Meh, happens a lot.  Usually with South Park (although it's not really all that bad.  Yeah, language.  Yeah, violence.  Yeah, sexual stuff.  But it's not particularly disturbing though (usually)).
