Oh my god, it's full of Granite.
« on: July 02, 2009, 03:57:07 am »

Okay, so here I was, calmly genning a large world.

I peruse the evil tundra in the south.

There's a rough circle of tundra surrounded by low mountains.

Except that one of the mountains is in the tundra, and is the BIGGEST F*CKING PHALLIC BASTARD OF A THING I EVER SAW.

Furthermore, the bases (it's a twin peak) are SQUARE.

SQUARE.

And to cap it all off, it's TOTALLY DETACHED FROM ALL THE OTHER MOUNTAINS.

It was genned with my own premium version of the Assorted Silliness Mod, with content not yet released (consider it released as soon as the save uploads :P) and didn't involve any particular genning oddities. It was just a 'Large' world.

Anyhow, steps:

1) Download the file from the link I'll provide.
2) Find the mountain: It's on the edge of a circle of evil tundra surrounded by mountains.
3) Embark there.
4) SHIT YOURSELF IN SHOCK AND AWE AS ITS VAST PHALLIC ENORMITY PIERCES YOUR SCREEN AND GOUGES OUT YOUR EYES IN THE MANNER OF A LONE DWARF IN AN ELVEN FOREST RETREAT.

Awesome find! Finally a really nice mountain. There's even a bottomless pit and chasm thrown in. All it needs is some dragons ;)

Behold its pointed beauty!

what, a mountain without a river, pool, and HFS?  how could it be?  if thats the entirety of the mountain tile, it should be in there somewhere.

If your phallus looks like that, I'd be worried.

You know, if you turned off that erosion thingamajig in the world generation settings, you could possibly get exactly the same world except those cliffs would be perfectly vertical, with a nice plateau on top. The mountain is pretty impressive either way, although I fear all those levels would do terrible things to my framerate.

Can the top of the mountain be pathed too from the valley?  The overall slope gradient is defiantly in excess of 1:1 and their may be z levels that lack ramps entirely, or it may be possible by repeatedly switch backing to pass through the few available ramps and reach the top, if not a few strategically carved ramps will probably allow it.

Your mission is clear.

Does turning off the "erosion thingamajig" actually make cliffs vertical?

I've tried to do that, but the cliffs were still rampy and I didn't see much of a difference.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

Puke, i assume they're there, but underground.

Jaybud, Juden: I looked at it without 3Dwarf or whatever, given that i don't have those. The impression I got from standard DF was pretty damned phallic.

Soad: horrible things to my framerate too: it took five minutes to embark.

Impaler: I didn't check. I was too busy LAUGHING MY EYES OUT.

Untelligent: I'd assume it's automatically a bit rampy, and erosion simply amplifies the effect. Which sucks.

Anyone else notice that hole in the ground a bit lower-left from the middle?

I'm curious what the barely conscious ai wrote about.
Well that went better than expected.  He went nuts and punched a rabbit to death, then the dogs and the whole dining hall ripped him to shreds.

I assume it's the bottomless pit.

I assume this:

is what you'd be seeing.
I still don't see how that's phallic.
If it looks like that, there's something seriously wrong with you, you should probably go see a doctor.

In standard DF UI, where I just had a layer-by-layer view, I was give the impression of a phallus. Whatever. Let's stop talking about this before someone loes an eye.
