Skeletal fish, especially carp and sturgeon, also skeletal elephants, whales and the aforementioned skeletal eagles.

For some reason I've never had a huge issue with SGE; they never seemed to attack my dwarves unless I deliberately sent hammerdwarves out to fight them. But yes, SGCS are terrifying beasts to encounter. STEALTH! SO MANY WAYS TO ATTACK! As mentioned before, Skeletal Whales, despite being rather uncommon, are very intense enemies as they come in large, landwalking packs and have an incredible size.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't whales also have building destroyer:2?

All undead have buildingdestroyer and are automatically hostile. The scary ones are anything large. That includes giant eagles, elk, horses, sturgeon, hippos, whales, sharks, elephants, etc. The basic idea is that rather than only having to worry about the large predators, you have to worry about the large everything. Aquatic undead are able to walk on land, too. A sufficiently-trained dwarf, though, will be able to take on pretty much anything, since the undead don't have any wrestling skill.

I get the feeling that Toady gave the undead BUILDINGDESTROYER just so that they could punch through doors damatically.

Thief:"Quiet kitty, Qui-"
Cat:"THIEF! Protect the hoard from the skulking filth!"
The resulting party killed 20 dwarves, crippled 2 more and the remaining 9 managed to get along and have a nice party.

Really? BD 1 or BD 2?  (BD 1 = doors and some similar things only - I'm guessing that, neh?)

This.

Zombie or skeletal versions of creatures are just that - versions of the same creatures.  So if you have a skeletal cat, it's just not that impressive, regardless.

Anything undead will never feel pain, never get nauseous or tired or whatever, and have no organs to pierce w/ piercing weapons, so bolts and spears are nearly useless (they'll still do "damage", just never get crits.)  Axes will still dismember them, and hammers still knock them across the screen.

Other than that, they're just creatures.

I keep having skeletal foxes and raccoons knocking over statues.
Does that answer BD1 or BD2?

People burning, booze exploding, the fort is on fire, the countryside has turned to ash.  Its business as usual.

Sounds like BD1, the lesser evil, and that sounds right.

BD2 would be tearing up workshops and trade depots and such, typical megabeast stuff.

I have never had undead get as far as a workshop or a trade depot.

My current map is under a never ending siege of SKELETAL foxes, raccoons, jaguars, and deer.  Seriously, I can hardly get anything done with the URIST MCPUSSY CANCELS HAUL ITEM: SKELETAL BUNNY RABBIT nonsense.

I have cleared the map of all life and un-life several times.  The animals seem to regen as soon as I kill them off.

    • I say things. Often.

I had one site with skeletal raccoons/deer that were complete pushovers, which lead me to underestimate the skeletal muskoxen that showed up a season in.

I didn't want to reclaim.

Welcome back to HALF-LIFE: FULL LIFE CONSEQUENCES!

Anyhow, yeah, skeletal and zombie camels, cruel Armok, those things are insane.

I forgot about the packs of skeletal wolves roaming my map.

skeletal carp just killed 4/10 of my elite/champion marksdwarves. They had the harass dangerous animals option on. I have a feeling they ran out of bolts and charged the damn things.
