Ty Toon.

A heads up on what will be happening when the tournament is over. I'll be setting the maximum number of active dwarves to 24. That should make things easier on me and make sure dwarves don't get neglected. With Biblet's departure that leaves 9 spots open. After the Champion has been decided people will be free to request a dwarf, should the 24 limit be exceeded names will be added to a waiting list.

I'll probably take a break or finish up Nilarzes during the sign-up period, but after that i'll get into a dozen or more preliminary matches with the Unskilled and 1st Degree dwarves who haven't fought in a while. These preliminary matches won't be commentated so I can get through them all quickly. After that, we'll see. The window is still open for suggestions on what fights should take place between those dwarves.

Will it be possible to use a dwarf we had so far, or will we have to make a new one?

Everyone still has the dwarves you started out with.

You notice an announcement pinned to the wall in the dining hall.

ATTENTION WARRIORS

We, the administrators of Ineth Soloz express our delight with your progress so far. You have all shown extraordinary skill and heart in your training. We congratulate our two finalist and wish the very best for both of them. Before the finale of The Phoenix Opening we invite you to attend a very special exhibition match at the Phoenix Amphitheater. We scoured the lands for the most renowned dwarven warriors willing to demonstrate their skills in hopes that you can learn from them. Consider this as part of your training.

We hope that you will all put aside any differences you may have and attend this exhibition fight. We present to you: Ironblood vs. Morul.

Fight approved by Captain Mayday and Martin.

It'll be interesting to see how your fights compare to mine.

vs SoF

In my experience, Morul wins at wrestling because he has more raw strength, but Ironblood wins if they use weapons and/or armor because his skills are higher in that area.  Perhaps the tables will turn now that Morul has gained a few more skill levels in weapons and armor/shields.

Also, the two of them pale in comparison to standard town guards.

My version will be a one fight winner takes all. I've taken many steps to ensure that the fight is as even as possible. Masterful steel armour and standard copper weapons for both, Ironblood with axe and Morul with pick. For this battle pick-axes and battle-axes have been given the same damage. This seems to be an optimum set-up for nullifying equipment and basing the fight more on skills and attributes.

As much as I don't like practice fights spoiling it for me, they needed to be done for this. With this set-up both dwarves have the capability to kill each other and have a lengthy battle. The 1st practice fight was a very long battle where one of the dwarves eventually won and the 2nd fight was about as long as the fights in WoA with the other dwarf winning. That's good enough for me so I'm done with testing. Next fight is the real thing.

Hmm... we also need a fight between Ironblood and Stravitch... :D

Anyway, what about giving all the dwarves nopain and nofear?  With vanilla, the moment a dwarf gets a yellow or red wound, they either immediately faint or else try to flee.

That would give limb cutting weapons a huge advantage over crushing and stabbing weapons.

Old poll is out, new poll is in. Question: Who will win in the finals of The Phoenix Opening?

Old poll and it's results:

Question: Who won the Warrior Lodge Brawl?

Fireheart  6 (40%)
Nichaey  3 (20%) (Not it)
Vulcar  2 (13.3%) (Not it)
Rysith  4 (26.7%)

Pretty much have to vote for myself, don't I?

Let's see some limbs fly. Hopefully not mine.
