So the way I see it, as an O-, I kinda get screwed over.  Everyone can take my blood, but in America only 6.6% of people have blood that I can get.  It kinda sucks.

Good reason to donate: they hesitate to use O- because it's so rare, so if you get in an accident, there's a good chance that "the life you save may be your own".

I've tried before. I go into shock when people stick needles into me, so they wouldn't get a full unit out before they would have to stop for safety reasons. Which kind of sucks, since I want to, and apparently I've got some special blood sub-type that they need for transfusions for infants, so they want it too.

I always wanted to, but the economist in me won't let me. Canada doesn't allow people to pay for blood, so they will feed you instead. This wouldn't be a problem in of itself as I like food, but they only offer soup and cookies...

I don't like either...

It probably sounds strange, but I cannot do something voluntary. There must always be exchange of goods and services. I must draw utility from the action or I won't do it, and i don't draw any utility from things than normally just make people feel good about themselves.

So yeah, anyone knows any blood donating place in Canada that offers real food? I might do it again in Malaysia if I go back as they give good food.
