[40D11] You have struck X!
« on: June 30, 2009, 09:05:53 pm »

When digging ramps into a new vein of material, it always sends me one z level too low when trying to show me something.  In this case it always sends me to look at empty hidden space.  One z-level up and I see the wax opals it announced.

This sounds like one of those bugs where a save would be useful for Toady.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

Everyone says that, but the ability to upload a 10 meg file without disrupting all other service is less common than people assume.  I'll give it a shot but no guarantees.

I'm sure Toady appreciates it.

Is it possible that you habitually get out of announcements with the down level key? Possibly if you switched stuff around in the key bindings?

I don't think so.  I have noticed some lag dealing with keystrokes sometimes, so it's not impossible it caught me when I was moving down in layers.  But twice in a row seems a bit odder than that.

Is it happening consistently every single time you find something?  Only this save or every time you play the game?  I won't be able to look at the save for a while, so any extra information would be useful to speed that up when I get there.

Does it only happen when digging ramps, or with regular digging too?

I haven't noticed it happening for normal digging.  It happens about half the time for ramps.  I've pretty much never dug ramps until this game, but since figuring out how easy strip-mining is with ramps I've been digging them lots.

To me this happens when I am building 1 big staircase down to the bottom level and not when I am staying on the same level.
Havent had the problems with ramps, but I mostly use staircases.

When my dwarfs dig from lvl -1 downwards and find something on lvl-2 the game shows me lvl -3.
