I'd like to point out that, due to many puzzles having two solutions, nothing you do with the goat can make the game unwinnable.

Try going to the carrot patch and use the bowl to hold the carrots.  Then return to the goat and feed it carrots.

Well, if you want, you could load and try talking to him again (after the carrot is fed to him).  But either way, it shouldn't make the game unwinnable.

Yeah, I saved it before I opened to gate to the goat area.

I say go either north or east since I don't know if we've been south.
