good riddance...
Music industry just successfully sued the FARK out of some mother, hope this trend continues then spreads into software. I will feel no mercy for those that are screwed because of their actions.

Lol you totally missed the point, a tracker is a service to connect individuals. It is not the axis of evil.

They are no more responsible then Google, which arguably has the single largest market for advertising (legal or otherwise), large enough that they could defend themselves in court.

An interesting thing that came out of this case was the pirate party was able to get a seat on the EU.

I was referring to former president Bush's axis of evil (the boogeyman man under his bed named Iran)

If that line of thought makes you sleep better at night, by all means continue adopting it, I have no right to deprive you of your failure to mature.

I can only hope that one day the company you own and/or work for does not suffer due to subversive elements in the marketplace making you lose your job, house, and means to support your family- resulting in your family looking at you as a failure. That way you you can continue to live in your fantasy world, and continue to justify why you do not agree when I say "good riddance."

You're both guilty of generalizing. Sandpit is closed, everyone get their heads out.

Cajoes is correct.

Though buman's argument has much more of a point than Goron's.

The Pirate Bay is just a search engine. That person the music industry just successfully sued? Overturned, on the grounds that the person they targeted did not actually own a PC.

Earlier on this mudball:
After putting *a lot* of money, labor, even lifes into railways connecting every corner of the earth some jerk comes along and invents flying.

A little later RIAA declares the end of music as we know it because of the abuse of a new technology: I am talking of course about Radiostations

A little later the RIAA finds out that making the payed for product inferior to the pirated one does suprisingly not increase sales.

Bottom line: the world changes. suck it up :)

which has a ticket price, that you pay for.

which have to pay royalties on the music they play, which is in turn recouped through advertising.

So far you have failed to 'prove your point'. In your examples each process was replaced by a legitimate process where the work continued to generate deserved revenues legally. Its so easy to talk tough behind the anonymity of the interwebs, making light of criminal activity. But I can assure you, if stealing digital software carried the same risk as burglarizing my house, I can be pretty sure you'd all have a different outlook.

I love how you try to act like google is just as bad (or worse) as tpb... thats like claiming google is worse than a terrorist because it lets them map out their attacks on google maps, and investigate targets in detail by searching for them... no. If Google was designed and created by terrorists, for the intended purpose of providing information to terrorists for terroristic use, and it was called come here to learn how to blow stuff up, then, maybe you'd have a point...

Ya know, its funny, I acted the same way as you guys at one time too, when I was about 14. Then I grew up, matured, and that was that. Hopefully you all will too.

Ooooh, the delicious irony, it's going to go straight to my thighs but I'm gorging on it anyway.

Not sure 'bout the irony part but ... when you say "I grew up" you actually seem to mean that you grew and got a good paying job (likely in one of the so called "creative industries"). While I agree that artists have to be (and should be) payed for whatever content they provide, one can hardly justify the homognous amount of people, who, while still providing valuable services to artists (risk managment mostly, you have, say, 1 in 10 chance to make a huge hit but if the expenses are payed for by the developer then ... well then you don't have to care about the succes rate so much) live off their work.

Also the fact how disproportionately rewarding creative industries are, it just makes one wonder if it is really all that deserved. Granted, if I were a succesful artist I would be saying something entirely different.

The point is that, not everyone can afford to pay for the content; but once they can, by all means they should.

The irony comes from the last sentence and the inherent irony of of the immature act of resorting to insulting people over the internet and the fact that he chose to question our maturity.

I agree. You rightfully, clearly, indicated people should pay for it if they can afford it. But your first statement is a little confusing to me- you indicate some people cannot afford content- ok, but does that mean its ok for them to have access to it?

I cannot afford a $500,000 house right now, so is it right for me to live in one, for free, until I can afford it, and then I will pay for it?

I cannot afford a Lexus right now, is it ok for me to steal one, and then when I can afford it, pay for it?

In both cases most people would say no, and even if someone said yes I highly doubt that most of the people that pirate digital media pay for ALL of what they have stolen once they have the money available anyways. Especially since, in most cases, they CAN afford it in the first place, they just choose to spend their money on other things instead. I could have afforded a Lexus had I not bought a Mercedes, so do I still deserve to drive that Lexus?

This is the wrongful thinking people go through in piracy- they like to justify their actions with 'I would not have bought it anyways'... or 'its not like I am taking something away from someone else'... Both those lines of thought show how low the originators are on Maslow's scale, barely beyond level 2; incapable of feeling strong self-esteem, respect for others, or morality.

And by "I grew up" I more-so meant I matured mentally and emotionally. I ceased to think like a child and left the mental state of me me me!!!
More recently though, I did get a job, yes. Not in a creative industry though. I have little respect for the music industry and its members, even less for the movie industry. Hard work is not rewarded, its all about right place right time (for the stars). BUT I still maintain the morality that stealing is bad, and even if I don't think Brittany Spears deserves the peanuts out of my crap, I still respect the fact that she deserves the royalty when I listen to her music. As such I choose not to listen to her music, not to buy her cds, and not to steal them.

Same goes for computer games. If I want to play a game I buy it or play a real demo. Period. If no demo is available and I am still on the fence, I watch trailers, read reviews, ask advice, etc. If I want to play a game but can't afford it or do not want to put money towards it I don't play the game.

lol, there is nothing immature or ironic about insulting liars and thieves. Its a heck of a lot better response than a burglar would get at my house. I am sure you welcome my insults much more than my m&p9. I gladly offer both to thieves.

Mind giving us some GOOD examples?

So far I don't see any standing in your argument.
