Zironic: It's a joke. If I were a fanboy, I'd do this:

YOU SUCK CAUSE YOU NEVER PLAYED FALLOUT 2 AND YOU SUCK BECAUSE OF THAT! <followed with a 9000 word essay on why you suck for not playing Fallout 2>

P.s: It's not a joke and you're a nazi, graphics-whore!  >:(

PS: Umiman, it's not like you (or your ancestors) ever experienced Nazi.
Sure, fascist NIPPON EMPIRE!!!!!!!!1 is there, but they were the one who supply ME with the weapon, so meh.

Yeah Umiman!  You tell him IWM.  You can't talk about Nazis unless you were there.

I'm guessing Zironic  was also making a joke (though admitedly a more subtle one), he really had me going until he said his copy of fallout 2 ran in DOS...  ::)

Back on topic: if you plan to buy the games, it's a bit costlier but I find it to be a fairly awesome enough package on GOG.com
The installler is really well put together and it's optimally patched up for modern PCs (runs flawlessly even on a Vista 64 system). It also includes the soundtrack, Fallout Bible (design documents for the world/series), wallpapers, etc.

I'm part german, so I hope I haven't had ancestors related to Nazi's

On-topic: GOG offers some good deal in accessibility, and if you don't want to shop online, most stores carry the 20$ package offline.

Well, generally fighting too many enemies in FO1/2 initially means death. Especially in FO2. FO2 is one of the few games I played where you couldn't beat the encounters at the beginning of the game and had to run away.

Actually you can... I did it many times before, like wiping out the whole Navarro base. A martial arts specialist, with a small amount of small guns to avoid chasing enemies off the map's edge.

Nothing stands a chance against you after you give them a poke to their eyes or a kick to their nuts. Hit their heads when they are knocked down. Then you start breaking their limbs one by one.

All you need is a doorway or a corner. :P

I actually meant the random encounters around the starting area when you're level 2. I recall being able to encounter groups of armed raiders, who could kill me in two turns if I didn't run away.

Alright, i'm stuck at the temple of trials  ;D , what do i do after i kill the two giant ants  ???

I downloaded killap's patch and edited the ddraw file to make everything look smoother, can't say i like it yet cause i'm stuck in the very beggining, but i didn't have alot of time to play just yet.

So far, its leaving a much better impression on me then BG2, at least regarding to each game's start.

My memory of the Temple of Trials is sort of fuzzy, but open the door ahead of you? Right click to switch mouse functions. Click the door in "cursor" mode to open. For more advanced interactions, click and hold with cursor mode active. Later on you may have to apply skills to pick door locks. Do this either by selecting the skill-based interaction via the forementioned method or by clicking the Skilldex and selecting the appropriate skill.

By the by, I'd advise to play FO1 first. It's easier, shorter, but more atmospheric and consistent.
