Why isn't fallout tactics huge over the network?

I seriously don't know, it's like the best parts of xcom rolled into one. The campaign is tedious, but what's wrong with multiplayer?

Because everyone is playing World of Warcraft, or Fallout 3.

Sad world this is...

It's old. And gets boring after like 20 rounds. You can't really build maps with the FOT level editor, it's too complicated.

Oh.. and people have exploits. I had a sniper character once.. using a standard sniper rifle and only leather armor. He was so good that he could snipe that bot with a gatling gauss gun to death at close range and somehow dodge the first flurry of bullets. The only way to kill him was to use some tough, deadly guy as a decoy and sneak in a melee guy after him. Of course, with his sniper perception + 2 mentats, he'd notice most people sneaking around.

Plenty of other exploits too, but I'm too lazy to look for them. I know that buffing them up with drugs is a major one.. only drawback is if you drag the game on too long drug users suffer. But the game almost never lasts that long unless you really pin people down.

I think there's a multiplayer version of Jagged Alliance which seems more fun. Haven't tried it, though.

I used to play F:T multiplayer with some friends at school. I discovered and exploit during loadout that allowed you not to pay points for ammo that was loaded into your guns. Basically that meant I would be taking several cheap heavy machine guns and loading them up with depleted-uranium bullets that would mow the entire team down in one salve.

Also, yeah snipers. Everything in Fallout becomes ridiculously unbalanced on the higher levels.

hmm yeah maybe the stats aren't handled the best to give a good multiplayer feel, like being able to sense peoples presence from being a sniper rather than a fit bruiser. if anything, a sniper should be concentrating down that scope.

The few times I've played, I've ended up running into consistent bugs with AP not regenerating properly (in real time mode) and turns not ending correctly (in TB mode). It's kind of a game ender when nobody can move or shoot.

However, I never had issues with overpoweredness of characters, possibly because I didn't play at the higher levels, normally 1-2K points per person. Exploiting was solved by knowing the people I was playing with. When it wasn't being buggy, it was quite fun.
