RTD -the quest. -Indefinate Hiatus.
« on: June 28, 2009, 05:53:15 pm »

This is yet another story driven RTD: We will be using the classical rules, that everyone should be familiar with at this (if not, feel free to PM me).

The story:

You have lived your life peacefully in the village of Almuntahira, also called Almun for convenience, for most of your lives. It wasn't a large village, and as a result everyone know each other. Most of you have been apprenticed by the craftsmen, are squires to the old knight or have been up to trouble and have learned a skill or two along the way. However, peaceful times do not last...

It was a terrible winter, productivity was bad last year and food was short. A roving band of greenhorn bandits think this is the perfect target for their first raid, with Almun weaker than it has been for a while. The moment the raiders arrived, you took refuge along with the villagers in the abandoned fort.

It becomes apparent that the knight and his militia have been defeated, and supplies are running out. By the third day, you and five others decide to brave the outside...

Map:

The Grey building is the fort, blue buildings are residential buildings and the yellow building is the inn.

Preparation:
You may pick two skills to be a novice in and a weapon to use (made of rusty iron).

Special rules: (TBD)

I'll go to sleep now...
feel free to jump in in the meantime. I still need to devise an xp system but for the moment, being a novice means you get a crit failsafe (ie 1s to 2s).

Players:
Nirur Torir
Flintus10
Dwarmin
tehstefan
serephe
thunderclan
Dragooble

Waiting list:
Vlynndar
Jackrabbit

I suspect you've never tried doing many illegal things yet in your game. The second the CCS knows you're "active", they'll come down on you like the hammer of God.

Sorry I'm kind of new to this, but is there a skill list somewhere? or do we make it up?
Make it up. It's probably a good idea to get a weapon skill, as you don't want to be cutting your own foot off. The rules for turns are simple: The Game Master rolls a die to see how successful your action was. Normally a {1} is a critical failure, doing bad things. A {5} is a perfect success, while a {6} is an overshot, often resulting in damages.

My skills shall be Cartography and Weather prediction.
Interesting choice.

I suppose this is enough player, God knows if I can handle more.

Any sort of divination skill won't have its roll displayed.

You approach the wooden doors of the fort. They are ten feet high and have a woden bar to stop people from entering. What do you do?

Oh this I need to join.
I will know something about woodcrafting (or metal? H'm. Nah) and whatever it's called to swing flails around.

The weapon is a rusty iron flail, of course.

I'm surprised no-one said they'd use a rusty iron staff made of wood or something.

I look around and see if there is anything of interest to me. If there is, take it.

Like say, an attack dog/wolf/anything. Or armor. Or rations/water. You know, the important stuff. :)

Vlyn, its called a flailerrerererer!

Say, can I join? If there's too many people (which you really don't want) add me to the waiting list please!

Anyway, my skills are in axes and diplomacy and wield a singlehanded axe.

I scout the area, cautiously
