I'm pretty sure that was the reasoning.

(embarrassingly admits he likes xcom apoc more than xcom ufo defense  :-[)
But maybe thats just cuz 1 and 2 were near impossible to play for many years on my machines, and have such little resolution it hurts my eyes- leaving me with many more hours spent playing Apoc, and thus, building love.

I've been trying to play this but there are several issues which make the game far more difficult than it should be. For one, the mouse speed is way too fast, even on the lowest setting. Is there a patch available to tone it down?

The Collectors Edition, which works for windows, is better in that regard. The ET patch that Lumin posted allows you to boost the resolution up a fair amount, and that also helps a lot.

Do I have to input the "cd key" every time I boot xcom? Or should I not be using go.com?

The Dos version? Yes. Not the Collectors Edition.

There's nothing "wrong" with Apocalypse, besides maybe the aesthetic design choice, I much preferred the previous titles because they were all dark and scary environments where aliens could hide around just about anything (torching jungle terrain with incendiary cannons (ammunition was incendiary, not the cannon) while hunting snake men never gets old) Apocalypse, while having the benefit of ridiculous amounts of collateral damage looks a bit too much like Buck Rogers vs the Play-dough people for my tastes. (Which is a bit ironic because they photoed clay models for most of the sprites in game )

Really now, you need 20 guys for a mission? You wouldn't happen to be a union?

I can't figure this one thing out about buying it.  When you buy it, is it sent via mail, or something you download?

And this is how tinned food was invented.
Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

Depends on where you're buying it.  The Steam version is downloadable, but has some issues with the graphics.  It's kind of choppy and everything has a smudgy look to it, but you can go into the Steam directory and find the exe for a better version (The icon looks like a sun)

Okay. Now are there any downsides/potential consequences to steam in general?
