So, how many of the forum goers down here in General Discussion/Creative Projects/Life Advice/ Forum Games are going to play Dwarf Fortress when the next version comes out?

I know I am.

I think the next version focuses primarily on functionality rather than new content, although there is some (medical stuff, reorganised squads etc).

The whole issue of Bay12vers not playing Dwarf Fortress until the new version comes out has been discussed to... well... a bloody stump. What is making you post this after all the hype about it has died down? Have you not been on the forums lately or just not reading things above the 'curses' section?

I was wondering if people down here actually still played the game and if they were to play the next version.

My guess is this will go down the way it did for the Z-axis, when the new version is released there will arseloads of hype and a lot of new and old players coming in, we'll have twenty times as much activity on the forumns and then after about a month it will die down to about 10 times.

After that the amount of players messing around and donating etc. Will gradually decline. The amount of people around and donating seems to depend entirely on how much new content is released.

I checked my forum stats on a whim a couple months ago, and it had been so long since I'd even read anything north of the DF Community Games section that those areas didn't even register on my traffic pattern.  I've started playing DF on and off since then just to maintain the principle.

It's nothing shameful by any means.  It is after all another game, and you get bored with every game after a while.

I've found wacky mod packs and challenge builds to be a nice diversion for the bearded monotony I'd already grown accustomed to.  Big surprise right?  "Tired of the game?  Change everything in it!"  But seriously, I've been having a lot of fun lately playing with the Kobold Kamp mod, and going out of my way to build this ramshackle four story hovel over a smelly pit, like kobolds would.

I'm waiting for the next version. I already have it all planned out... I'm going to build a slave Egyptian-inspired empire, it's capital city being a large pyramid complex. By the pharaoh's beard, it will be grand.

Did you just post a bunch of vegi-dicks on my board?  I've been trying to combat forum devolution a bit, and that involves fewer vegi-dicks!
