Giant Statue - Suggestions?
« on: June 27, 2009, 03:16:58 am »

I'm thinking of ANOTHER large project for my surface fort -

Now the idea is that those who have died valiently in combat, will be burried in a nice place.

The idea is to have a square base which leads to an underground crypt where the sarcophagi will lie, and on top, there'll be a statue.

Now the statue should be something that represents the valour and power of the dead dwarves, and it shouldn't be too giant (so not too many Z levels)

Any idea what I could do? Suggest away

Moai. Bonus points for surrounding the area with magma.

Bonus points for surrounding the area with magma.

Unfortunatly the magma pit is ages away from the chosen area, and there's my tree farm over my magma pit, so no real alternative.

Guess I'll use water instead

Divide the burial chambers into different compartments: one for each type of weapon. Then, you could make a giant weapon of the assorted tombs. So the sworddwarves will have a sword on top of their catacombs, the hammerdwarves a hammer etc. For wrestlers, should you choose to have such catacombs, you could go for a fist.

How about a mosaic in the statue of the starting intro with the two axedwarves ( I think ) outside with the miner. Or the Miner mining for adamantine.

stack of 10 prepared dragonfly brains - I'm trying to imagine what's more funny: a dwarf popping a tiny dragonfly brain into his mouth for a snack, the butcher who actually prepared this feast, or the brave hunter who ventured out into the wilderness and returned with this bounty.
