The weirdest glitch i have ever seen.
« on: June 26, 2009, 10:04:57 am »

Ok i was messing around with Dwarf Companion ( Trying to make elven traders butcherable and seeing what cool stuff i can do ) then suddenly i got spammed by a million messages: "Interuppted by Chosen", so i looked around briefly. Nope. No Chosen Warriors, so i assumed there was a bug with ambushing. Then i saw something simply amazing: My 'Chosen' swordsdwarf ( It's her nickname, since she is extremely powerful ) ripped a guy to pieces. For no reason at all. Then proceeded to murder her own children. Is she berserk? Nope. Is she upset? Nope. In conclusion. There is no reason for her going ape. Then i noticed my ENTIRE army was joining in...Including my ultra-badass axe dwarf who had an artifact dragonsteel axe ( To put it in perspective, it can one hit a collossus easily, and this guy eats GCS for breakfast. ), who rather amusingly chased one of my planters down a long hallway until eventually he had nowhere to go and got sliced into pieces.

What the hell is going on? My men are going ape shit, my civillians are acting their normal-retarded-selves but my millitary are acting like they are being possesed by Armok, and there is NO stopping them, they're trap immune and i can't counter them with a good army, because quite simply, they ARE the army. Looks like a serious oppurtunity for fun.

You probably accidently turned your army into invaders, or perhaps just Chosen, without taking off the citizen status, causing all your dwarves to attack each other because all the fighters are enemies of the civilization but part of it at the same time.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

I remember someone telling a story about how the fortress exploded and those who survived always attacked immigrants, and when the major gave birth to her girl, she tried to run away from her (while carrying her) until she punched her until the baby bled out. Then she was a bit upset for losing a child.

May be the same, remember some reports that everyone with combat experience went after those without combat experience.

Edit: Got bothered enough to go find it:
Mine's the result of a bug, but it's still incredibly entertaining.  For some reason, a bunch of my dwarves suddenly stopped recognizing a bunch of others as friends, and there was a massive riot.  Around 160 dwarves were eventually counted in the total causalities, including all children- that was fairly unfortunate.  Now, my dwarves treat immigrants like goblins.  But it's not just immigrants- it's all new dwarves.

So, when my newly elected Mayor gave birth to her new baby- she immediately began running in fear, as though it were an invading goblin.  Here's the kicker:  she was holding the baby.  After a long time of fleeing unsuccessfully, she did what any cornered dwarf would do:  she sucker punched her own baby and then kept running.

So there she was, running terrified of her own baby, which she was holding, through the crypts and tunnels beneath my city, pausing every now and then to smack it around a little, and spattering the floors and walls with blood here and there.  For the latter part of the struggle, the baby was unconscious.  Eventually, she must have ripped its throat out or something, because it bled out rather dramatically, and then the Mayor got an unhappy thought at having "lost a child to tragedy."

A quick scan of the stocks menu shows that one of the dead pack animals has a bin full of silk cloth!  It is speedily unforbidden, and my moody glassmaker sprints off to retrieve his prize amongst the smoking, charred, blood-soaked ruin that is the outdoors, totally oblivious to the carnage that was instigated on his behalf.

ARMOK LAUGHS AT YOUR PUNY FORT AND TURNS ITS OWN SOLDIERS AGAINST IT MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....*cough*

Ya well.... that was awkward... I think Armok is Lusting for blood so he chose the Chosen to do it... seems apt.

I fixed that up for you.

NICE! I would love to recreate these circumstances if you knew what happened exactly. I suggested a similar idea in the suggestion forums as a coup, but this is fantastic. Did the Fortress and Royal Guard fight back against your army?

I've heard people tell tales of this in adventure mode.

They'd turn the mayor into a zombie, Townsman Biff would stab the mayor for being a zombie, Townsman Stevedave would stab Townsman Biff for stabbing the mayor, and before you know it everyone's hostile toward everyone else.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

I have lots of experiences like this in Adventurer mode it seems that whenever someone likes a criminal alot like lover of best friends when they try to punish the criminal the friends fight back then their friends join and so on until the two cliques are at war.  It's like food fight gone horribly wrong.  I once had a break out where someone tried to butcher a cat but just as the cat died it picked an owner so they flipped out on the butcher and then everyone else joined in.

Well, the chosen killed a clothier, her husband was a champion, who hit the chosen, so the marksdwarf shot the champion for punching the chosen...Then the champion messed up the marksdwarf which then pissed off his child ( Who was a speardwarf ) who then ran the champion through, meanwhile the chosen was killing babies, then the mayor got involved, then the miner who EVERYONE IN THE ENTIRE FORTRESS likes...Go figure, it degraded into an all vs all with the millitary. Not sure how and i don't know why, but it happened.
