The lich moves down the corridor towards the light. He opens the door and goes inside the control room. Inside is surprisingly clean, considering the state of the rest of this place. which is to say that it would have passed a health inspection. barely.
The control room is large and circular in shape, with many tiers, and control panels everywhere and a giant window that made up all of the wall opposite the entrance, which was on the highest level. The control panels are being manned by a combination of cybernetically-enhanced skeletons, far above average (for orks) intelligence greenskins, and specially-mutated creatures. On the highest level there were 3 panels, one for the lich, one for the master mutator and one for the dark lord, which was currently being occupied by it's intended user, who was unfortunately asleep.
The lich went over to him and woke him up via pushing him off the chair. Why he slept was one of the biggest mysteries in the life of the lich, as he was nothing but an animated suit of very, very powerful magical armor.
"Huh....ZAAH! I'm awake! I'm awake! Nobody touch the stove! I am Stonewall Jackson! The swiss are coming! The swiss are coming!" He yelled in a rather random manner.
"Stop it you fool, I have something to do." Said the lich.
"We have to go to Niflheim immediately!"
"Why?"
"Because some people are going there to do.......something; and I'm going to stop them!"
"Something heroic?" No.
"Not even mildly interested."
"Listen. When we get there, I'm going to steal everything that isn't nailed down, and I'm going to destroy everything that is."
"Ooooooh. I like the sound of that."
"Then let's go..... wait, where is fishface?" He said, referring to the mutator, who had the unfortunate quirk of believing that he was a fish.
"In his lab, trying to prove that he is in fact, a fish."
"Well, tell him to get up here, and tell your orks to begin preperations to put the fortress in active mode."
"Can't you do that?"
"No, I have to tend to the skeletons, and I have to activate the legs."
And with that, they left. Then the arduous task of transforming this towering construction into an unholy terror of the multiverse began.
