Half-Life 2 mods?
« on: June 25, 2009, 02:24:35 pm »

So, I just played through Half-Life 2, since I was never bothered to finish earlier. And now I'm looking for mods. I heard there was some nice ones, and multiplayer too.

So, people, what mods can you recommend me, please?

PS: I heard about a mod where there's some invisible experiment gone wrong that fights against a squad of troopers or something like that. Anyone got the link to that?
Also, do multiplayer mods work with the singleplayer version of Half-Life, or not?

No, not commiting suicide, sorry.   ...Through that money is rather tempting...

If you mean "I bought single-player Half-Life 2, can I play multiplayer mods", I think the answer is "You bought a Steam-engine game, so yes", but I'm not sure.

Ah, if you don't have a Steam ID, there might be problems with getting anything multiplayer to work.  I don't think you can play online anything without a copy of the game/engine registered to your steam ID.

Garry's Mod is probably the most well recognized mod for HL2. Although it costs $10.
But version 9 is free, though not nearly as good.

Synergy is a pretty fun mod, You play through the game in multiplayer coop and can have a lot of people playing and taking on the combine.

I'm pretty sure 9 is easier to pose.  It felt that way for me, and a lot of people on the forums say that(Although the forums themselves are terrible), but you can't fingerpose, which ruins it.

Anyway, if you end up getting the real version, Zombie Panic, Zombie Master, Empires, Eternal Silence, and some other mods I can't remember at the moment are all good.

D.I.P.R.I.P.

It's like Interstate '82 or Twisted Metal. It also uses a lot of new models AND sounds, which is nice.

I've always been quite fond of Dystopia and Eternal Silence, but they do get boring after a while due to the lack of maps

I think that would be The Hidden mod.

Argh, forgot about the hidden That mod is awesome. Another good one is Zombie Master: One person controls zombies in rts and can spawn them in certain areas and activate traps trying to stop the humans from achieving a goal.

There you go, also you might want Smashball. You can download it directly from steam (and many other good mods aswell).

Alright, thanks everyone. Now I have to focus on whining to my mother 'till she accepts buying the orange box. Yay.

Wasn't there some single player mod based on the work of H. P. Lovecraft?
